Five-star, all-American eatery serving the best fresh seafood in the city

I lived in the Bay for a decade but never got a chance to try this place, so decided to check it out when I was visiting recently. Sadly I didn’t have the best experience Food was certainly fresh and tasty overall but I didn’t have the best experience with my server. He seemed like he might not have been a server but was chipping in? The other guys seemed very much on it. I was brought a cup of chowder when I asked for a bowl, the crab I ordered was completely forgotten, and the big one was he kept touching other things when preparing my sashimi. I watched him touch his face a bunch (it was hot that day), handle cash, handle the tip jar, etc and go back to touching my raw seafood. Other servers I saw wear gloves or wash hands post handling cash. I get it’s cash only but with seafood and esp raw seafood being the specialty I would hope for better food safety. To be fair he seemed to be doing a lot of things at the same time and it was later in their day but it soured the whole experience for me.

We got there on a Friday at 10am it was perfect no one was there.

I only got the crab back and clam chowder but the crab back was so good I got a second. It's the crab miso and it was amazing. I would come back to SF just for that dish. The chowder was really good, you could taste the fresh clams. The service was really great as well. I got there first thing at 8 AM and the crab wasn't ready yet but they brought me a few slices of smoked salmon while I was waiting. Heads up I tried to go at 10:30 on a sat and there was about an hour wait already. Also cash only.
