What a fun place to visit while one is visiting SF or a great third place hangout if you live in the area a little bit of Bavaria brought to the Hayes Valley Area the German beer is excellent and while I was going to do a grilled sausage plate had to get the pork knuckle (which they don 't have all the time but I was told it is their most sought after item as I have not had that since I went to Germany and while it is not cheap, at $40, you can easily split this between two people I 'm a big guy and I can eat and I could not finish off this whole meal. I can 't wait to go back next time I visit SF, wonderful experience! :
If you find yourself craving German food Suppenküche will not disappoint. They offer a solid menu with plenty of options, big portions, and some great German pilsners to wash it all down with.
It's definitely the best authentic German spot in San Francisco. Especially if you're looking for wienerschnitzel and a giant boot of beer. But it's greatness is really the worst part. No reservations and get ready for typically a 30 minute wait outside to get a seat.Communal tables, miscellaneous German decor, and a large variety of beers give you that authentic German ambiance. Make sure to order the pretzel.
We came here on a weekend brunch and there weren't too many people. Our waitress was also very animated and friendly. The meals were simple but artfully done. Everything was fried and cooked to perfection. Although, I'm not sure the portion justifies the price. We had a chicken schnitzel and two sausages for two people, and the bill came out to be $70 total. I wasn't totally full afterward, but I was satisfied. There aren't many German restaurants in the city, so maybe they think that would justify the price.
