You won't regret it. We had lobster sticky fried rice and honey sauce shorts ribs. Great for 2 people and extremely delicious. Highly recommended.
Went here for a work dinner and I’m glad we did. Not pictured was a delicious fried rice, sautéed veggies. We ordered the two stars of the meal. Live crab with salt and pepper and slow cooked black cod. The salt and pepper crab was super moist, and the flavor on the fried crust was to die for. I was told this is what they’re known for and it’s obvious why. Also ordered the black cod, which was hands down the best black cod I’ve ever had. I order this any place that has it because of its melt in your mouth deliciousness. While it was pricey here, I think $50 or $70, don’t remember, it came with a huge portion size for the price, and was cooked to perfection. Fat oozing out, moist flakes falling apart, and incredible flavor from the marinade they use. You cannot not order this if you enjoy fish at all. : Service was super friendly and attentive as well. 10/10 recommend. Nice for work and personal outings in my opinion. Also, appeared to not be a tourist trap. It’s just a solid locals know about restaurant.
My first time trying traditional Chinese and it was an amazing treat! Crab was so good and the place was busy at lunch time. Don't forget to get the desert, you won't regret it. Staff was attentive and looking forward to going again!
This place doesn't need much more acclaim. It's a schelling point for many people: 1 those who appreciate the deep history and culture of high-end Cantonese cuisine; how it serves as the backbone of the beautiful moments and memories many families, friends, and business associates have made, and continue to make around it throughout the years 2 those who understand how complex it is to master the simple, classic dishes (go and try making one of the fried rice yourself and achieve the mouthfeel of the rice grains.. its only fried rice... right..?! 3 those that pay attention to detail on the high-quality ingredients that are sourced and then meticulously and laboriously mise-en-placed and cooked for our enjoyment. Quality so good, you can taste it. 4 those who are lucky enough to have been around to witness this place grow and establish itself as an institution through the evolution of SF Chinatown. With skyrocketing food and human labor costs, and COVID-19, the restaurant business is harder than it has ever been. It's a feat that doesn't go unnoticed. We are SO lucky this place is open to share their story with us. Anyways, the fried crab seems to dominate the reviews so I wanted to highlight some of their other dishes that I enjoyed on my most recent visit. Loved every single one of them and will always look forward to going back to R&G. See you there!
The service at this restaurant was fantastic and the food was amazing. We noticed that most tables were enjoying the whole fried crab, so we decided to order one as well, and it was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. We initially ordered the half Peking duck, but after tasting it, we regretted not getting the whole duck because it was so good. I usually do not like Chinese melon, but I couldn't get enough of the melon and greens with dried scallop gravy. Although the R&G special beef didn't look very appealing, it turned out to be one of the best beef dishes I have ever had.
