Barvale - San Francisco

Unfortunately, Barvale also falls short when it comes to delivering an authentic Spanish meal. The dishes were inconsistent, to say the least. For example, charging $2.50 for half a deviled egg seems excessive. The Croque Madame – which, by the way, is not Spanish at all – consisted of two thick slices of bread, a poorly placed piece of cheese, a bit of ham, a fried egg, and béchamel sauce. They could have easily cut down on the bread, as the slices were as thick as double servings. I find it hard to consider returning, although their happy hour does seem enticing. And just a heads up: their outdoor sign is painted on the wall, about three feet away from the walkway, making it tough to find the place at night. The only indication of the restaurant’s name is a small neon tapas sign.

This restaurant offers a genuinely authentic menu. The food is absolutely delicious, and the value is reasonable considering it's in the city. However, it’s very noisy, making it hard to have a conversation with the people at your table. The OpenTable app didn't work well for this restaurant, and when I tried to call, it took a while for someone to answer. Additionally, the service was lacking, as the waitress was not very attentive. Overall, I would say the food is excellent, but the service leaves much to be desired.

Great food! However, it was quite noisy during dinner due to a group conversation.

Made a reservation, drive over. Seated right away (5:30pm on the weekend) Waitress had good suggestions. Everything was very well done. Glad we sampled the paella. We will be back!

Our server was fantastic,,,a girl with brown hair in a bob haircut with black glasses,,,wish I could remember her name,,,she was patient, informative, funny, did a great job even when the place was packed and loud. Food was great, loved the mussels with chorizo and the bread to dip in the broth....heavenly!
