Wood Yu - San Diego

My one recommendation with coming to this restaurant is to manage your expectations. I would not go there thinking Baja Asian fusion, instead, I would call it a deconstructed New Californian take on an Asian dish. If you go there expecting Asian or Mexican, you might be disappointed. While the flavors are far from authentic Asian or Mexican, they are delicious and the approach is unique as is the flavor palette.

Brian Malarkey and his partner have hit it out of the park with this new restaurant in San Diego, which offers an exciting fusion of Asian and Spanish cuisine. I can't wait to return and explore more of the menu!

I absolutely love this place! I can’t wait for them to open on the weekends.

I ordered the house plate with fried shrimp and guacamole, and both were absolutely delicious. I’ll likely get the fried shrimp again, although I wish there had been more; there were only four medium-sized pieces.
