Bidrage med feedbackStood at the hostess stand for 5-10min without anyone to greet us. After getting the attention of staff we asked if we could seat ourselves. We sat at our table for another 5-10min without anyone coming by to drop off menus or water. We eventually walked out and no one said anything to us.
This is an update from July 1st . The champagne was a cheap sparkling wine from Spain. The restaurant had no idea as to the menu online . Since there was a cost for the birthday special it was taken off at the front desk. I was offered a Prosecco split for free due to my disappointment. At dinner I ordered the flatbread which was completely different than the cafe menu and online. It was wet and oily. Before ordering I asked to have some grilled chicken put on it which look like a tablespoon of chicken for $5. Only two choices for dessert a fancy brownie or a bread pudding. I chose the bread pudding as I was still hungry and ate less than half not good at all. As a San Diego I will not be going back . This review was June 16th when I made my reservations and was so excited. Just stay here. I came in to take a look around today as I will be celebrating my birthday there and I will write an updated review on the food. I want to thank Rachel staff person for her help regarding the champagne. Really looking forward to my day!
This review is strictly for the brunch. They ran out of the crab cake Benedict so I ordered the short rib Benedict. Unfortunately, the eggs were cooked to medium well. Additionally, the short rib tasted minimally seasoned with salt and pepper; it was nothing special. The potatoes would've tasted better under the oven for 10 minutes longer; they looked and tasted anemic without a brown crust. They have an extensive drink menu, and I thought my frozen cocktail was tasty. It was a loud and festive atmosphere, as they do pool parties on the weekend. DJ Ratty was spinning some good tunes, on legit vinyl to boot! This would not be the time to go if you wanted to have a good conversation with your dining companions.
The atmosphere was excellent. The presentation and quality of food was good. Pricing for the food was relatively expensive, but I 'm certain it 's because of supply chain issues and inflation. Service was acceptable in that labor shortages are expected and there only seemed to be one guy waiting on all the tables. I felt sorry for the poor waiter as he had to do everything from sweeping, wiping down tables, taking orders for all the customers. It was a bit much for one person. I definitely appreciated him. But when prices are that high, we need better services and the food should be a bit more 'special. ' The wedge salad $12 grilled salmon $8. Should have been $9 for salad and $6 for salmon. The steak fritas $28. Better price should have been $17
Love dining here when I'm staying at the Lafayette. The beautiful poolside setting, laid-back atmosphere, and delicious food, not to mention the friendly and accommodating staff, have me returning again and again whenever I'm in San Diego. A hidden gem!
