Fantastic evening with friends. A feast of excellent food, wine and hospitality. Something to remember. The socks are great too !
We went on a Wednesday night, traditionally a quiet night in this town. Just ourselves and another group meant we had the full attention of the crew, meeting the owner, the chef as well as our great waiter. We had milky pork with apple chutney, steak a pasta fish-dish. Couldn’t fault anything. Wine that was recommended, we bought a bottle to take with us. Same with the olive oil. Packed at weekends, we got lucky to get a seat tonight, but so worth it.
The room is clean, really very well furnished, with so much goto and without excess. the call to traditional Tuscan osteries is constant but everywhere you can see a touch of modernity and this is a particular key, because it reflects exactly what happens with the specialties that are prepared in this place: traditional dishes, enriched by innovative ideas, which however nothing removes the original value of the dish. Another aspect that is pressing to highlight is that all the dishes that we had the fortune of getting, are studied in order to enhance the excellent quality of the products used in the preparations. We went to this place as a couple. we were greeted by an extremely kind boy (a single waiter who alone managed to lead the hall,) who made us sit and who advised us the right wine to match our choices. we were served within the time strictly necessary for the express preparation of the dishes, which were presented and explained as always should be. We started with a tuna tartare, with apple and Greek yogurt. the tuna smelled and knew of sea (what not frequent) and was perfectly accompanied with the acidity of the apple. yogurt, on the other hand, pleasantly broke harmony, like a small shock. Calamarata to the sea carbonara: very tender fish, perfect cooking point, extremely balanced flavors. Strong dish, the parmigiana of the sea. Here really the chef invented the dish you don't expect. no contrast between sea and vegetable but an extremely harmonious goto. the condiments used were perfect, as well as here, cooking and quality of the fish. A very pleasant surprise was to find in the heart of the Tuscan hinterland a fried fish that even in the most famous places of the sea, can realize with such perfection: crisp, light, but mostly done with good stuff. Finally, the sweets: creamy at the pistachio and tiramisatana the first melts pleasantly in the mouth leaving a persistent flavor of pistachio (sign that is made with real products and not with the powders,) while the second (an idea of the house that obviously you will not find elsewhere if not under the form of vulgar imitation had a cream with mascarpone that few times tastes in life. The homemade cantuccinos were wet in the liquor also made in the house. What could you ask for more? One last note. Let us ask readers to note that the very few negative reviews (apart from one that is an obvious error, since the content is very positive) are all at all circumstantial, contrary to the positive ones that are detailed and well motivated. In short, a very pleasant evening (other than a selection of classic rock tracks really remarkable) for which five stars really are not enough. we hope to repeat the experience as soon as possible. Lively recommended!
