Found by chance we stopped to eat trying typical mantovane recipes. excellent pumpkin tortelli and ricotta with nettles. delicious sbrisolona cake. very kind staff. recommended!
When my girlfriend and I went to the restaurant, the owner Mars welcomed us nicely, helping with our bikes with luggage and serving us, despite general Siesta time and no customers besides us. He cooked up the finest stuff, starting with italian appetizers of the highest quality. The main course was Tortellini, which he served follwoing an orgiginal ancient recipe with zucca (Pumpkin). It was hands down the best i've ever had and I was really impressed with this dish, which he apparently created with passion and love. He also treated us with melon afterwards. When we were done, he came up to us and asked me, what I wanted to pay for it. Yes. He realized that we were on a bike tour for some weeks, so we dind't have a lot of money and he sympathized with us. So he decided to charge what I was willing to offer. Absolutely generous move. He also gave us water for our way and we left this place in great satisfaction. If you are ever in the region, go there! The food is superb, the atmosphere is cozy and elegant and the chef is just a nice person.
We were out on a bike ride and luckily found da Marte open and happy to serve us in the middle of the afternoon. There was a great fixed price menu with a range of local specialities, water and wine for a very reasonable price. The food was lovely, but we particularly enjoyed the service. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciated some complementary cake to give us enough energy to get back home! Would definitely recommend if you find yourself in San Benedetto Po!
