Happy Donuts Breakfast - San Augustine

Great local breakfast spot! Breakfast Tacos, Kolaches and Donuts, all are great!

Always in there lol. There nice. Prices are inexpensive. The food is good and fresh.

This spot is one of my favorite things about returning to San Augustine. As someone in the military, I always look forward to coming home just to enjoy their Kolaches. I’ve just arrived and can’t wait to grab some more!

This is a fantastic breakfast spot with delicious food. However, their hours can be quite unreliable. They have a large sign out front claiming to be open seven days a week, but that's not always the case. If you go on a Tuesday, you might want to keep your fingers crossed that they’re actually open. It's hard to know when they will be open or closed.

When I went inside to grab some pictures for this review, I was greeted by a friendly young lady who was diligently assisting customers. The donut display had a good variety to choose from: glazed, chocolate, chocolate with sprinkles, coconut, nuts, cinnamon twists, apple fritters, and both lemon-filled and strawberry-filled donuts. They also offer breakfast sandwiches featuring bacon and eggs, options with cheese, or sausage. Breakfast burritos and tacos are available as well; I didn’t check what was inside, but they looked fresh! The kolaches seemed to be quite popular, with spicy and regular options, both featuring cheese. Their boudin kolache really sets them apart from other donut shops. For my breakfast, I ordered two jalapeño kolaches, one spicy boudin kolache, a lemon-filled donut, and a chocolate milk. I must say, everything was REALLY good! My favorite was definitely the boudin kolache. The bread was incredibly soft, and the kolache had just the right amount of spice; I honestly wish I had ordered another one. The lemon-filled donut came in as my second favorite. It was super soft and fresh, with plenty of filling—something I feel many donut shops skimp on. The glaze was also spot on; it wasn’t too thick and didn’t make a mess. The lemon filling was thick, tart, and sweet, which made it delightful.
