Bidrage med feedbackDinner at the Golden Wok (on Wurzbach) WAS NOT a good experience for us. Long story short, the service was horrible, the food was mediocre and the prices were madly inflated. It took us 30 minutes to get our drinks. I ordered ice tea extra lemon. The waitress got our meals mixed up the beginning then screwed up our checks on our way out. I ordered the Create your Stir Fry with vegetables, beef chicken. BEWARE OF THE STIR FRY DEAL – it will nickel dime you to death. It was $7.99 for the veggies plus $2.75 for each meat selection. That's $13.50 for a bowl of stir fry! Total bill with ice tea was almost $20! The food was not worth twenty dollars. I've had better stir fry at cheesy food courts for a lot less than $20. The management got huffy defensive when we complained about the service. They were more concerned about getting their money. Then they charged us 18% gratuity for our party of 18 people. HELLO,18% for lousy service? There should be a law against this. By the time we sorted all the bills we walked out totally disgusted. We should have stayed home had a bowl of Ramen noodles for about .65 cents. I never saw my extra lemon.
Golden Wok is a sterling example of a moderately priced restaurant that offers a balanced array of Chinese entrees for traditionalists as well as a nod to the ;adventure dining ; crowd with a ;build your own ; offer. The Oriental Steak is exceptionally good as is the Garlic Eggplant. I would wave you off of the Moo Shu wrong sauce for my tastes (I finally asked for some hoisin in a bowl) and a bit stingy with the wrappers. Lunch is generous in serving portion and dinner is very reasonably priced as well. One last note, I had to ask my wait person for chopsticks so don 't be shy perhaps Alamo City patrons don 't often use them.
The atmosphere is amazing. The customer service is excellent as I had no issues I ordered to go and everything I need it was in the bag even my drink.
Wanted to share a picture of their Cashew Chicken. Their new recipe now includes red an green peppers. I asked them to exclude them. I remember vegetables in abundance there. I remember large mushrooms, slices of celery, the bamboo shoots and water chestnuts . Just really miss the select your own bowls ... Like a salad bar where customers were able to select from a Large selection of vegetables, sauces then choose which meat you wanted to add.
Came here for the dim sum which is only available on the weekends and it was absolutely delicious! A bit of wait because it's a popular joint but it's worth it. They have a koi pond to gaze at which makes the wait time go by fast. I was pleased with variety of dim sum they had available. Definitely making multiple visits in the near future.
