Bidrage med feedback(yes, copied from my Yelp because I am lazy This was the Dinner Club’s inaugural place to meet. Looking back, it was probably a mistake as nothing has lived up to it since (Millenium has been the closest . We had called for a reservation and was pleasantly surprised they seated us at the best table (the back booth which was roomy and gave a great view of the entire restaurant. Right off the bat, the staff was unassuming, incredibly friendly, and attentive. This helped bumped the entire experience up a notch. The bread was fantastic as were the appetizers. We shared a Yellowtail Sashimi dish that was fresh tasting and a salad (though less memorable for me with plums, pancetta, and olives. For entrees, I had the slice duck breast which was good though somewhat plain. The meat was cooked perfectly though and was juicy through and through. I loved that it came with mashed parsnips. My companions had the ratatouille (probably the least favorite of our dishes and the Truffle Gnocchi (which was flavorful, rich, and delicious . But guess which part of dinner was the best? Dessert of course! One of the girls (she wasn’t our server but maybe a hostess? came over and talked to us as we discussed the possibilities. She was incredibly sweet and enthusiastic, explaining in detail all the plates. Her personal recommendation was the Honey Mousse with ice milk, plum gelee, and this sugared orb. It was the one I was originally eyeing so I’m glad my sense weren’t completely off! The mousse was light and refreshing, far from what you expect from a mousse. The plum gelee was a delight and the ice milk was a nice addition. This dish alone pushed this meal from a four star to a five star. As we were leaving, I noticed a more hipster/scene crowd entering but overall, I was pleased with the entire experience. Highly recommended!
My friends and I went to Bar Tartine for my bday this year. We picked it b/c it had just been recently featured in San Francisco Magazine and has been getting rave reviews on Citysearch. Overall, it was good but not crazy amazing as everyone had been saying. We ate at 10pm since they couldn’t seat us before then. We shared the bone marrow which looked interesting and yummy on the cover of the magazine but in reality was very fatty and lacked oomph. All the other dishes were quite good but not super memorable.
Was so sad to find Bar Tartine closed this last trip It had been our favorite spot for a tasting menu with drink pairings.
First timer last night 11/10/16 my sister and I had a wonderful time.
Although Bar Tartine's tasting menu may be on the pricier side ($37 for lunch; $58 for dinner), it's absolutely worth every penny.
