Hungry Traveler - Salisbury

Short review : Ripoff. To elaborate, we had their 5.99 salad bar and a cup of chowder with my wife. The salad bar was meager with 6 shallow salad plates with wilted lettuce. Also we had 1 ice tea and a water . The bill came to $52 before tip. You ask, how can that be? Turns out even thought the menu says $5.99 for the salad bar, it's actually $15. The cups of chowder mostly potatoes and flour) were $8 each which we knew). I talked to the manager who was very condescending. She acknowledged the menu said $5.99 but said we needed to order a full meal to get that price. She acknowledged it was not stated as such on the menu but that was our problem. She went on to say that she herself has had tiny salads that cost more. Lastly she told me we would have been better off to have ordered the lobster roll...Really?

Things have changed since the new ownership. The food, especially the salad bar is not as fresh. The atmosphere was lacking, but what was most noticeable was the attitude of our server. We used to love going to the hungry traveler for the camaraderie and lively atmosphere no matter which server you got you always felt like you were at home. Now it is just business! Our server was not friendly, almost rude. It's the only time my husband and I have left cash with our credit card and instead of the server using the cash first, she kept the cash as her tip and put the entire bill on the card! She thought we were leaving her a 40% tip, yeah right!! We won't be back!!!

Girls day out! Kim was our waitress and she was a blast…..excellent waitress……above and beyond service with a smile!!!!! Food and drinks were excellent!!!

I am a semi local resident now my 5 th visit to this hidden treasure. I found Hungry Traveler initially by locals. A treasure. The food is outstanding, generous portions, great variety and reasonable prices. The atmosphere is comfortable and the local regulars are many as well. Speaks to why the repeat customers as well as visiting seasonals customers cant say enough about this restaurant. Jackie and Niki are my regular servers and Brooke the manger is very present and involved. Like family!

This place has great potential but wow slow slow service and subpar food! The onion rings were excellent the French fries were ok. I ordered the filet , it was dry charred and no flavor. Prime rib was very good. My daughter ordered lobster ravioli and was disappointing to say the least. Alfredo chicken broccoli and seafood Alfredo were good but average. The lobster roll special was ok but the person who ordered it was not informed that it was cold and because it was a special no substitution were allowed. They offer a salad bar it was so basic with limited choices. Why bother offering it. A couple walked in right in just before us was served ate and left before our order was taken. Huge disappointment. We won’t be back
