Le Petit Blanc - Salins-les-Bains

Le petit blanc is a beautiful local restaurant near the center and serves good average dining in the old historical environment. we were a group of 20 who had booked in advance and everything worked perfectly.

Sat with friends and so glad that we were booked at the place was packed. the actual restaurant has a wonderful arched ceiling. the personal was incredibly efficient, pleasant and smiling, despite the fact that they don't save a second. there was a...fixed menu, but they were happy to mix and fit to meet our needs. the food was perfect. great place.

We came in for dinner with 3 adults and 3 kids after the thermes. The waitresses are really sweet and welcoming and we had a nice dinner for reasonable prices.

We were staying in the hotel above the restaurant and wanted somewhere on our first night in Salins that was good quality without any stuffyness. We picked right. The waitress was cheerful and friendly without being in the least pushy and overbearing. The food was...cooked to perfection. I had stuffed mushrooms to start and was in seventh heaven. The rest of the meal followed on in the same vein. DON'T go if you are in a hurry. This is a place to experience great food and service. Being Brits (well only in part. My Mum was born in Salins) we were early in the evening and were not rushed at all. By the time we left there were quite a few people in there. Mostly couples and some of those were obviously there for the romantic atmosphere. Absolutely splendid!

My partner and I stayed in the grand hotel des bains (a large hotel in the center of the city sitting on this restaurant) with plans to go the next day to a saltwater thermal bath (the region and the city is famous for it.) they are part of the same original building, but the reappearant is under different management of the hotel that has its own restaurant in the ground floor. wittling the petit blanc is located on the ground floor of a parallel road, but sets deeper, so it feels like the bassement. the old stone structure, arched cover and walls gives this place a large cachet and atmos. it is clearly occupied here, as we had to make a reservation despite its season (although Saturday evening). the personal was very friendly and service pretty good when considering that they had at least 60 seats for 2-3 server. (normal ratio for European restaurants, I think.) regarding eating, we had local specialties. I had the diocese red dinner menu (3 courses,) with starter of the Comte salad, a main the hot pot of the calf (with kartoffels, carrots, wobbles into the broth), and finally 3 local cheese plate. my partner had a la carte, a starter of meurette style eier, komte käsefondue. we divided 50cl of the local light red weins (ploussard) and we had complimentary foam water. total the bill amounted to eur 57, all-in, for 2 persons. both starters were pretty good. perhaps the komte käsefondue could have been a little more viscous. I expect to be back next time.
