Cibo Trattoria - Salem

It was my mom's birthday, and they featured her favorite dish on the menu. They also recommended a delightful wine to pair with it.

We encountered a few service issues during our visit. We brought a bottle of wine from 2006 and I had my ah-so wine opener with me because of its age. Our waiter opted not to use it, and as a result, the cork broke. They then had to strain the wine through a coffee filter into a decanter due to the cork pieces. Additionally, when the waiter brought the dessert menus, he never returned to take our order, and we ended up having to flag down the manager to place it. When the bill arrived, we noticed a $30 corkage fee, which is nearly double what most restaurants in the area charge. We spoke to the manager about the situation with the wine opening, but instead of waiving the fee, she reduced it to $15. While this is more reasonable for a corkage fee, we still believe it should have been waived altogether considering the mishap.

Fantastic Italian cuisine paired with an excellent team. The weekly specials are outstanding. It's a great spot for anyone seeking an authentic local experience in Winston-Salem.

Food was pretty good. Service was a little weird and slow. Have never before purchased a bottle of wine and not been offered to taste it first. Overall okay but will probably not return.

Our party of two had the usual experience we have at Cibo's. The staff is always friendly and hospitable. The food is alway great. The meatballs are a must-have. We always have a very pleasant, fun, and enjoyable experience and look forward to our next visit.
