Large service the ladies were super nice and very informatiw on the menu
This newly remodeled restauranr ro look like it did 50 yeats ago but more open —has a very friendly knowledgeable staff. We were VERY. Happy with the wait staff answers to our Q re suggested meal BBQ shrimp dish) AND desert ice cream on top of large brownie)—and my traditional choice of chicken fried strak, mashies beans. I drove on this trip from the El Paso area to the Austin Salado area and tried over 10 places with chicken fried steak. The Stagecoach Ranked in the top 2 other was in Alpine, TX) We WILL beck. Also love how the centuries old trees are displayed inside small courtyards in parts of the building. And around the grounds. And as soon as the newly redone rooms are opened— we will also try those!!! Thanks
I have been to the Stagecoach Inn dozens of times prior to it closing and was very anxious to try it again. I enjoyed seeing a set menu to choose from, but also enjoy the 'legacy 4 course meals. The menu is more modern that in the past, but loved that they still have the Strawberry Kiss dessert and the tomato aspic. Both were wonderful, but the tomato aspic serving size is much smaller than it used to be. Overall, they have done a great job with the remodel and menu. I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoyed it before and anyone who has never been.
The remodel is very nice. There were four of us to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. We were seated in a room that had a large table of people that were celebrating something as well but they were so loud we couldn't hear one another talk. Our waiter was very kind but never came back to check on us once we got our food. We ordered the hush puppies which were wonderful and deviled eggs which were horrible. Our main course was prime rib which was tough and had no flavor. It came with garlic mashed potatoes which were very good. Mother had chicken fried steak which was so stringy and tough she couldn't eat it. Ordered herbed green beans as a side and they were not cooked and no flavor at all. We did have a side salad that was good. Overall we were disappointed to spend $120 for food that should have been spectacular. Won't be going back any time soon.
