Bidrage med feedbackAs individuals of German Austrian heritage, we are familiar with Schnitzel. We had heard mixed reviews about this restaurant, but decided to give it a try. It is important to note that the restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. The patio is spacious, as is the interior of the restaurant. When we arrived, there were no customers inside, but there were 10 people on the patio. Unfortunately, parking was not available, so we had to park 8 blocks away on the street. The restaurant does not have a BYOB policy or a liquor license. However, the non-alcoholic beer was decent. I ordered the Wiener Schnitzel made with veal, which was satisfactory. The red cabbage was sweet but served in a small portion, and the "potatoes" were actually sliced frozen fries, rather than the traditional German potatoes. The choice was between fries or potatoes, and I was not expecting frozen, deep-fried slices. The service was attentive, although the waitstaff did not speak German, unlike the owners who do. We hope that they will eventually obtain a liquor license. Unfortunately, we did not have enough room for dessert.
The schnitzel dishes at this restaurant are average in taste and presentation. They are fairly basic and the brown sauce would be better suited for poutine. Unfortunately, they do not have a liquor license nor do they allow BYOB. On a positive note, the terrace is very beautiful.
The Schnitzel and Spatzel are excellent! We've been a few times with different people and the reactions are always the same: the food is very good! The portion sizes are on the large size, so you get plenty for your money.Just a note, as of June 2017 they still didn't have a liquor licence, so don't expect german beer with your meal!
I ordered the traditional wiener schnitzel for $18.95, which came with a salad or soup, fried potatoes, and red cabbage. Unfortunately, the schnitzel was not pan-fried but instead dropped into the same fryer as the commercial sliced potatoes, making the meat dry. Even adding lemon did not improve the taste. The potatoes were not the traditional German-style potato salad, and the red cabbage was too sweet. It's a shame that this restaurant, with its beautiful interior dining room and gorgeous terrace, could benefit from a more experienced chef. The menu is overpriced for lunch compared to other restaurants in the area. On a positive note, the waitress was very pleasant.
This restaurant is very good. The lunchtime special costs $14.50 and consists of soup, schnitzel, potatoes, and red cabbage, cheesecake and coffee - a wonderful deal. All the items were well prepared, tasty and attractive to look at. The restaurant is on the boardwalk; we didn't sit outside because it was raining, but we had a table right next to the windows. This must have been a beautiful, large house. The bathroom was very clean.
