My husband and I chose to dine here because it seemed nice and relaxing and had a menu that was varied enough to fit our tastes. Unbeknownst to us...it was rip off central. My husband ordered the beef tenderloin which was fine for ($45). I pointed to the "plat du jour" option (which is listed under the dinner menu and not the lunch menu) and asked the waitress what it was. She informed me that it was a fish called "St. Pierre", a lovely white fish. So I ordered what I thought was the "plat du jour."The restaurant was only half full when we sat down and ordered. It took close to 20 minutes to get the water and glass of wine that we ordered. After asking her for the water, she asked if we wanted "still or with gas?" I said just "ice water please."She then brought out a bottle of Evian, I told her tap was fine with us, since I noticed everyone else was drinking tap. I'm tired of buying 2-3 $8 bottle of water. Anyways, she brings out the tap water like we requested. Later the bill comes and I noticed that we were charged for the $8 Evian and now my "plat du jour" that was listed as $29, is now a "poisson du jour" for $45.Look I understand that St Tropez is not a place to go if you're not willing to drop cash, and I have no problem dropping $$ on food. But when I order a dish listed at $29 and then you try to tell me that you said you didn't have it and I ordered the "fish of the day" instead...and try to "up charge" me on $8 water bottle plus an extra $15 for the fish, I have a problem. I then show her the bill and her mistake. She says she made a mistake on the water but unfortunately, the fish was $45. She then tried to say that the "plat du jour" is for lunch only. We'll, first you said you didn't have it, and now it's for lunch only ( although listed on dinner menu). As I was waiting for her to refund the water, the manager asked if he could help me. I showed him the bill and explained what happened. He took the bill and said he would fix the mistakes.Next thing I know, the waitress comes to me and says "the water is my mistake, but the fish is yours. So here's 8 euros back for the water you didn't order." Wow. It's not the $45 fish! It's the principle! You can't do that! You can't treat customers like that! Anyways, stay away... or check the bill closely.Consider yourself warned. One more thing, the bathrooms are disgusting! Smelled like urine and was near the kitchen where I couldn't even look at the floor because it was so dirty and gross.
We chose to miss the harbour-side restaurants and chose this bistro just off the market square. My wife had seafood risotto and I had moules and chips, great chips, washed down with cold beers and rose. It suited us perfectly, the service was good and prices are what they are in Saint Tropez but we were well satisfied.
We have taken our children here three times now every time we visit St T, aged 3,4 and now 11. The location is great as set round the village square and away from the high tourist/pricey harbour side. The food is a good standard as is the wine, for us pigeon French speaking people they offer an English worded menu. The only negative comment would be service was sigh fly slow although this extended are visit which was nice. Would return for a 4th visit
The host was very welcoming and fixed a very nice table for us 3 plus a stroller. Perfect introduction really!!Menus were given right away and drinks were offered. No kids menu for diner... And nothing under 25€! Not really kids friendly!Burgers were tasteless made of cheap ingredients, tuna tataki was tasteless and the beef filet with pepper sauce a rip off!The bread tasted like old chemical... All together a charming place but they should invest in a real chef to propose these prices for such a cheap quality!
