Bidrage med feedbackThe setting is particularly beautiful when they can sit outside. the people are friendly and helpful. eating is good and expensive and cheap. come with a great appetit. the selection of the wee is appropriate with reasonable trips. that's a well hidden one.
You will see yourself in a private private house of champclos a covered terrace and al fresco tables in a sheltered courtyard next to the church . there are some tables inside . the food was excellent so that we had eaten twice in a night, the agneau. Lamb was perfect and melted in the mouth, the pork was also tender, both had delicious sauces and perfectly boiled vegetables. the desserts were a tasty bite. it was good to see that they were busy and I recommend to keep. English is understood and the waitress was friendly. service was also good. highly recommended for a visit . oh, you must try the ris de veau! sweet brote in a puff bäck vol a vent .
Managed to try most restaurants in the environment before they return to our favorite Vieux clocher and it not disappointed. about 3 miles outside of barjac in the village st privat de champclos the location in a converted monastery (I think, . is very picturesque. they always seem to be full so they have to reserve. the 3 course set menus are 23€ or 35€, we went for the 23 and it was excellent. a tart with chicken curry and salat for starter, filet mignon with a senf sauce for main course and panacotta for dessert. in my view, they are more specialized with their appetizers and desserts, which all appear homemade. they tend to be fed well, but not filled after dinner. if they are anglo saxon, they can find some of the meats a little under boiled (like the ones who prefer it, but ask them to cook it 'well made' (with raised eyebrow! . large service the best restaurant we can find for 25 miles.
Ten of us went for an evening meal and I have to say the enclosed garden where we ate was very pleasant while the people serving were also courteous and friendly. A varied mix of starters, main courses and desserts were had by the group,...the comments being mostly positive with the main comment being that though the food was of a reasonable quality, there was actually too much which was a little off putting. In my wife's case and mine, we were also a little disappointed by the wine. Overall, the restaurant has a good reputation as a couple of friends have visited the area several times and used it so I am sure we would try again if in the area.
One of the rare places in the Ardeche/Gard border area that is open early in the year and stays open well past the peak summer months. An amazing setting, although a bit off the beaten track so you need to drive unless staying in st...privat. Great views across to the Cevennes, always friendly personal service and a good range on the menu. Never been disappointed in big or small groups. Highly recommend, great to sit out in the courtyard in summer.
