Au Lion d'or - Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise

Food is good and hearty - good menu choice and very reasonably priced. Make sure you can translate French as there are no English menus.

It's a nice enough place. Obviously Monday is a quiet night in the town. Very little open. I happened upon this place which had a reasonably priced opion ( 12€ ) among others. The chef had better English than I had French and was very helpful. The egg Russe starter was ok but the plat du jour ( sort of mixed grill) was not good. Finished with a dessert creme caramel that was not great either. The place is nice enough but really not to my tastes.

Had a pleasant solo trip for an evening meal. Wine and food were delicious, 17 euro menu excellent. Finished with a brandy and a chat with the excellent waitress. Recommended for hungry bikers!

Despite some minor language issues (school french a little rusty) the service was very friendly and the food superb. We chose the €12 menu and thoroughly enjoyed it all.They even called a cab for us to get back to our accommodation as the weather was bad.

I took a party of nine to the Au Lion on the recommendation of our bed and breakfast host and also reading Trip Advisor. We all had the set 17 Euro menu, and our host prepared a vegetarian meal for one of us. We were so impressed we booked another night, although he was closed on the Sunday night, the host opened up for us and made a vegetarian lasagne.Highly recommended
