Bidrage med feedbackWe came back to Cassis Monna et filles to buy more cassis mustard, because I finished the jar I bought last summer. So delicious. This time we got to have lunch there. The restaurant was amazing! They had gluten free bread for my husband (not marked on the menu), I had poutine with duck confit, and my son had mushroom quiche topped with cassis-flavored onions.
We did stop at this famous well-known Ile d'Orleans landmark. Restaurant was closed, but the shop was open. Lots of homemade products, with others from local artisans. Spoiled for choice. Our friends did buy several items. Our choice fell on blackcurrant liqueur. We appreciate this product, generally purchased in liquor stores, imported from France. After tasting it, it was like night and day. Superb product, rich, tasty, which will be consumed in moderation, and not to make kirs, even royal ones. We also love the history of this place. Without forgetting the warm welcome.
Horrible food...arrived at restaurant and told at least 45 minutes for sitting but not to to worry you can have take out and sit on the grounds. . food was really poor 2 chicken sandwiches.(where's the chicken and 1 grilled cheese. Waited 55 minutes to get our order and quite tasteless. 2 drinks were 20.00 and total cast 75.00 plus. Very bad experience.. Do not stop there if it is busy......
Ile d'Orléans has always been one of our favorite spots to visit while in Quebec City. This time was no different. We found out about Cassis Monna et Filles by chance. We looked at the menu and knew we would have to make a stop here. We are so glad we did. The restaurant can be found shortly after crossing the bridge to the Island. Bear left and about a half mile up on the left is the place. WHAT A LOCATION! Parking right out front. You walk in and immediately fall in love with the place. It's open on all sides, the view is spectacular of the St. Lawrence River and the area out back. Tremendous before you even sit down. We were seated out on the gorgeous balcony. Our server was friendly and attentive to us from the moment we sat down. Everything here has cassis in it (black currant) and it was unforgettable. My wife and I decided that rather than order two main courses, we would try two the popcorn chicken and the poutine. First of all, the popcorn chicken was light, fresh, and along with the accompanying aioli made with cassis, I was close to ordering a second serving. Served in a mason jar with the sauce on the side, it was just perfect, all the while looking at the River in the distance and the breeze blowing. The poutine...let's put it this way, I'll never eat poutine anywhere else again. This is our new favorite poutine...and the gravy, yep, made with cassis. So good!!! My wife enjoyed a sangria made with cassis and she absolutely loved it. This place is a MUST when you're visiting the Island. Make sure to check out the museum out back, talking all about the place and the harvesting of black currants in the region. Also go to the boutique, directly under the restaurant, everything cassis. There's also an ice cream place right there as you head out to the parking lot. We didn't go because our lunch was so yummy and filling. But it was certainly a popular spot for diners as well as people stopping off on their tour of the island. This place is truly a gem of the Ile d'Orléans. When visiting, please make sure to make Cassis Monna et Filles your new special spot to relax, enjoy the scenery, the breeze, and the amazing food! We will definitely return in the future. Merci bien Cassis Monna et Filles!
This proved to be a beautiful stop on tour around I'lle D'Orlean. There was line up for patio but it was worth the gorgeous view across the St Lawrence River. The wait staff were friendly we had Popcorn chicken, Quiche, Baked brie salad and fries. Everything, not surprisingly, had a cassis sauce. Apart from the fries which were not hot and just OK. Everything was very tasty. But the best thing here was the soft serve Cassis sorbet/ice cream, which is served from the roadside kiosk. In fact the ice cream was so good that we came back for seconds on another day. BTW you can also order some of the food from the kiosk and eat at one of the picnic tables in the field below. Ice cream so good.
