Bidrage med feedbackThis will be our last time at WA Frost. In an environment where you'd expect restaurants to be putting their best foot forward to maintain patronage, they fell extremely short. With reservations, it took 15 minutes to get us seated. After watching staff continuously pass by our table, it took another 15 minutes to even put a drink order in. At that point, it was the host who asked as we had not yet been inquired upon. We then proceeded to put in our full order as the writing was on the wall. After ordering off of a very limited menu, the food delivered was about on par with Piada italian street food. Not to say that is bad, but not what you or we would expect from this establishment and for those prices. Overall, the staff was complacent, the food mediocre and overall experience was poor. I'm sorry to say that WA Frost is no longer on our list of places to go in St Paul.
Very expensive food that's boring and not all that good.
The limited menu for 2020 did not disappoint, especially with the fantastic Salmon and Pasta dishes as always. We also indulged in the delicious artichoke dip, which had great flavor. My companion, who is a bartender, and I both thoroughly enjoyed the rye old fashioned cocktail.
The restaurant had good social distancing measures in place and the ambiance was pleasant. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Three out of four of us ordered the New York strip dinner, but only one steak was cooked correctly. The waiter didn't check in on us during the meal, only bringing the bill at the end. Despite this, the cocktails were well-made and the wine was good. The general feeling at the table was that because of the 20% service charge, there was less motivation for the staff to provide excellent service. The subpar food and service will likely lead us to not return to WA Frost.
I went with my husband and adult son for a birthday dinner and we had a great experience. The tables were spaced over 6 feet apart so we felt very safe. The food was delicious and we enjoyed a charcuterie platter, a cheese platter and three entrees. My husband had a strip steak, my son chose a BLT sandwich, and I had salmon with creamy quinoa and couscous. We had a good selection of wine and beer. Our server was fantastic. She was very attentive and helpful and added to the enjoyment of the evening.
