The menu has several options, half of them can not be ordered as they are not available...which will be informed by the angry waiter. The perfect place to experience the stereotypical French arrogance (this is probably the only reason why it is worth going there because it is hard to find such a place now because we meet in France with full hospitality)
The bar/restaurant is acceptable, but the music inside was so loud that I sat outside, where it was not so hot and interesting anyway. The waiter refused to accept my order on the daily set menu without explaining why and constantly trying to use his English, although I ordered in understandable French. This has, thank God, changed in France in recent years, but there are those arrogant employees who still do not realize that there are simply bad manners to speak in Fench when foreigners try to learn the language. I only ignore English and further in French; or change me in German if I really annoy nobody speaks German. I had a French type of Hamburger Patty (no rolls or extras), which was much thicker, soft and the meat rather rough, but tasted good. This with fries (pommes frites) and something else. The beer was chilled and good, although I noticed that locals received their drinks together with a small dish appetizers. But with a waiter like this with a stupid tourist, you can hardly expect much better. All in all, I was not dissatisfied, but I would not go back because of the bad service and the organization.
This was one of the better looking places in a not very promising area full of fast food joints. The waitress was friendly and helpful, despite our appalling understanding of the French language. The food was good simple French classics for a reasonable price. We have omlettes, frites and a delicious homemade tiramasu. Drink away from the tourist path and full of locals. Also many bars in this area were only full of men, while here too were women who helped the relaxed atmosphere.
As this was our first night in Paris, we decided to try one of the local cafe's restaurants for tea Straight from the get go it was warm and friendly with the waiter giving us a friendly hello before we had even entered the...place. After having a look at the reasonably priced menu, we decided to go in and eat. From what we could see there was only 2 front end staff, the waiter (who looked like he did everything; waiting tables, cleaning tables, going at the crème brulie with a blow torch!!! and the barman. in the background there was a chef as well. but that was all the staff we saw. Straight from the get go, friendly polite service from the waiter asking us if we would like anything to drink. Trish got a small lager (which turned out to be a half pint , and as I was on holiday and supposed to be relaxing, I asked for a large lager (the waiter advised there were 2 types big or small . He asked if I was sure, I said yes and then he returned with a nice cold pint of lager (I wont say the brand as that would be free advertising lol Then we ordered our food. As a creature of habit I ordered the cheese burger maison, and for the first time ever I was asked how I would like my burger cooked (medium rare medium rare you get the point . Trish ordered the seafood salad. Talk about fast service, we weren't waiting long for our food and what arrived surprised us. The burger was good looked and tasted good and the fries were how I liked them. they were like home cooked French fries (crispy and cooked to perfection . Trish's sea food salad. What can we say about that? Oh My God!!!!! Talk about value for money. Normally back home when you order something like a seafood salad, you get a wee bit of salad, some dressing and a couple of bits of seafood. Not here. Plate was full of salad including apple and avocado. prawns in a seafood sauce and a massive wedge of salmon quiche!!!! and also a basket of French bread Trish's portion alone was enough to feed a family of 3!!! Needless to say there was no way she was finishing it lol. After we had finished the waiter took our plates (after asking if we were finished and asked if we wanted anything else. He brought us some water and then the bill which was placed under the table cloth so that only we could see. The bill for 2 beers a water a burger and chips and a banquet of seafood was still cheaper than what I would pay home. Total value for money. so in ending food 5 out of 5 Staff 6 out of 5 (the waiter deserves a pay rise value for money 5 out of 5 So in ending would we ever eat there again? I would say yes we would it was a nice meal, friendly quiet atmosphere. I would definitely recommend 2 thumbs up!!! :
It was our first night in Paris. We were just walking around and looking for food. If we stopped reading the menu. The waiter went out and called us like old friends. There were few people sitting at the tables and at the bar. They saw... all were relaxed locals. Feels like it's a good place to meet friends on Friday night. There was only one waiter who served the whole restaurant. Menu is simple. There were also sets of appetizer, main dish and dessert. It helped to choose quickly. The food was delicious. Salads with warm goat cheese was wonderful. The main dishes quickly disappeared from the plates (OK we left rice and French fries on the plates because the portions were quite large). Cream brulee and Chocolate Muse was the perfect end of dinner. Three-piece dinner for two people and half a litre of vine cost less than we could expect in Paris. Probably because there were no tourist routes nearby. So if you are somewhere near and looking for something not expensive French cuisine and good atmosphere, visit this place.
