My wife and I cycled from the Camping Bois Dinot in almost center of Marans to this restaurant which took us about 45 minutes. Pleasant ride in the sunshine and no severe inclines to trouble us! Arrived at restaurant at 1300ish and it was very busy. We sat and ordered a carafe of wine while we looked at the menu. Their speciality at this time seemed to be Toddy Moules which is cooked moules in a delicious sauce with onions, lardons(chopped ham) and other stuff which did make it tasty. The food was tasty we had a salad starter but it was a little slow as the restaurant was very nearly full. A popular French restaurant and seeing as eating well and at no rush on a Sunday we just accepted this! Staff pleasant and our waitress would speak English if we were unsure of what a dish was. But she was friendly! Tables and seats a little basic and not softly comfortable so I did fidget a bit! The ride home on the bike completed an uncomfortable afternoon for my bottom! Enjoyable but not outstanding!
My Wife and I arrived on a Sunday evening and found this place quite by chance, it seemed to be the only local eatery open, so we took a chance and we were pleasantly surprised. My Wife is vegetarian which presents plenty of challenges in France, as she doesn 't eat meat or fish but the lady serving managed to conjure up a starter of cheese from the buffet, followed by a goats cheese tart for main course and the dessert was again from the buffet. My starter was all seafood from the buffet, my main was a fish dish plate de jour and I also finished with a buffet dessert. With wine and a beer, this all came to 41 Euros, very reasonable, as it was just round the corner from our accommodation.
Had to stop at a nearby garage , as it was almost midday we decided to try this small auberges restaurant,we were very pleased , had two 15 euro meals, buffet main course and dessert served by a friendly lady in simple but comfortable surroundings,we would say good French fare and if we find the time will stop there again.
Stayed in a local B&B and dined here one night . We had very little French and the lady serving had little English but was very helpful . Excellent meal in very pleasant surroundings . Not plush but clean , comfortable , relaxing and price was very reasonable . Toilet was spotless . Cannot find fault with this restaurant or its owner and will be back .
