Nice atmosphere, nice decoration, impeccable service... thousands of compliments for this nice brasserie. The Café de l'Ouest has a large terrace (with red chairs). And also eats very well, from breakfast to dinner... Here, there is sea cuisine: oysters, seafood, dishes for tasting, broths, scallops, salmon on the plate or, one of my favorite dishes, the samosas of hot goat cheese. They also have salty cakes, salads, omelettes, toast...
This restaurant was recommended for dinner in our hotel and it was fantastic. on a Saturday night in October it was super busy and busy with the activity, but that had no negative impact on the quality of food. I had the only...Meunière and it was perfection. I loved that the server has boned it on our table. my man had the scallops and 4 weeks later he still talks about how they were the best scallops he had ever had in his life. in that we went back in the next night (a lot quieter on a Sunday) and we both had the skallops and they were just as good in the second night. note: we are not the type of people who go into the same restaurant two nights in order. the scallops were just so good. the service was friendly and the wine recommendations excellent.
Sml breakfast, they cheated us with extra fruit juice, 46euros! for sale piece brot, butter jam, croissant hot chocolate, which arrived cold with skin and 2 fruit juices. the ulcombe is that we do not visit st malo again!
What can I say when I’ve just eaten the best St Jaques risotto? Laced with shaved truffle, interwoven with Parmesan and topped with slightly caramelised scallops, perfectly heavenly. Oh, warm crusty bread on the side. His chateaubriand was delish too with pepper sauce and frites....He had to knick some of my bread to dunk in sauce. We were too full for puds, but… the guy at next table had crème brûlée set on fire at the table by waitress. The smell of caramelised sugar was gorgeous and tempting. Once the flames died down, he said it was very good. The staff were really busy, as was the restaurant itself, and they managed to remain attentive. The were all wonderfully dressed in uniform of black trousers, white shirts and red braces, reflecting the colours of the restaurant. The loss of a star was because it was a little expensive, especially the wine 25cl carafe €14. But hey ho the restaurant is central in the dining area of St Malo.
We went here as we didn't want to walk more and wanted to eat fish. Most of the food was very good although the Lieu was served in a bath of oil with slightly overcooked veg. The crab and oysters were excellent. Just as expensive...as you would expect for a tourist restaurant in the prime spot in the town. Good service, lovely and warm even on a cold windy evening. In the same situation I would go there again.
