Kava Diem - Saint Charles

I ordered an egg veggie sandwich and avocado toast. The sandwich arrived, but the avocado toast was missing. The staff took my order number and didn’t return. I had to go to the counter to ask for it. While the avocado toast was delicious, it was quite soggy. The sandwich was also lacking in egg. I ordered a vanilla latte, expecting it to be hot, but it was served iced instead; nobody asked for my preference. I left a decent tip when I paid, but now I wish I could take it back. The prices were significantly higher than other upscale breakfast spots. I could understand if it were busy, but there were only a few tables occupied, while the nearby brunch place was bustling with a long wait. The good reviews drew me here, but unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations. On a positive note, the location by the Fox River is beautiful.

I can't praise the owner enough! She truly excelled in ensuring our food was prepared perfectly. As a vegan, I really appreciate that all vegan items are cooked on their own grill. We also love the coffee! I highly recommend Kava Diem!

I Loved this place. The coffee was delicious and I had a strawberry cake cookie that was really yummy. I did not try the other food but plan to return so I can. The atmosphere is great, it looks small when you walk in but it is really large when you walk around, there is a fireplace and outdoor seating with a river view.

This is a beautiful coffee spot along the river with a fireplace inside that has a roaring fire in the winter. They used to have a lot of gluten free pastries from Brown Butter bakery and that has sadly been discontinued now. Hopefully they will bring back those pastries as they were absolutely delicious and a wonderful addition to their coffee!
