Bidrage med feedbackWe were looking for a restaurant that would serve an early meal as we were going to a performance of Richard III in the village. Cathy and Denis were very convenient and the reviews were good. It was a Friday, their fish and chip day. My partner loves fish and chips! I find the batter and chips a bit much but I thought I would give it a go, especially as Cathy said we could order a separate side salad. It was delicious, light crispy batter and proper chips. I find oven baked ones rather dry. We had a selection of delicious mini taster desserts with coffee, the chocolate mousse was wonderful. It is a lively friendly restaurant, if we lived nearer we would be regular customers. I'd like to try their steak and their pizzas, but it's a bit of a drive.
We had the best meal in France so far since we had arrived here a week ago. Juicy, delicately spiced fish, potatoes for once not drowned in butter and salad. The meals of other diners also looked delicious and our only regret was that we could not stay to work our way through the menu.
This restaurant was recommended by our hostesses at Cantegrive and they were not wrong! We enjoyed 2 lunches here as well as Friday evening Fish and Chips with live entertainment. The best fish ever! This apparently sleepy little village gets quite lively.
An absolute gem, beautiful food and a wonderful host all in the lea of the abbey, do yourself a favour and go there, you won't regret it.
