Athens Market Taverna - S San Diego

Portions a bit on the small side but the food was amazingly well

This is probably one of the few restaurants i’ve entered and felt like home.

Our server was great , so thank you server. I 'm Greek and I 've eaten Greek food countless times both in Greece as well as many other countries, so I know not to judge Greek food in England or US like the food in Greece. I also cook a ton. But this some of the worst, fakest Greek food I 've had. Everything except the moussaka which was acceptable, 3/5) was terribly prepared and flavored, some were even warmed with microwaves. Ambiance was minimal and lacking in culture. Sorry to say... :

I always wanted to try greek food, coming to San Diego from Toronto for a visit, so, I went to this restaurant with my husband and our daughter. It was super yummy food. Mary the owner and all the employees are sooo friendly and nice. Very authentic place with family atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant for a nice homemade Greek food. It's incredible. It was a very pleasant experience .

We were stopping by to get a drink after a fire emergency at another restaurant where we went that day and and the lady at the door was extremely rude and judgy of how confused we were feeling. Being a San Diego resident I will never recommend this place to anyone.
