Bidrage med feedbackUnderwhelmed. Probably won't go back. I will say the service was great, but the food did not justify the price. Portions were pretty miserly e.g. Roast dinner had 2 halves of a very small roast potato and 1 thin slice of beef.
Decided to eat here whilst staying in the area. Six adults. We decided to sit outside as it was such a lovely evening. We pulled 2 of the picnic benches together to accommodate us all. Unfortunately the bench my brother sat on was rotten and collapsed, thankfully no damage done. Waitress came to take order then came back for drinks order. Brother in law is coeliac so asked for a beer that stated gluten free on the menu...was brought a non gluten free beer. Steak and ale pie was the best thing ordered on the menu..ribeye steaks at £25 each very thin and dry and was not asked how it was to be cooked....homemade quiche and salad....tasted exactly the same as a cheap supermarket quiche and only 3 small wedges on the plate....food took around 45 minutes to be brought out and pub wasn't even that busy
We have just returned home after a 3 night stay here with our 3 boys. The rooms are decorated to a high standard and so clean and welcoming with little touches that didn't go unnoticed. We ate there 2 evenings and for breakfast each morning and it was beautiful each time with friendly service and we really felt looked after and welcomed our whole stay. We visited Flamingo Land, Pickering/steam train and Thornton Le Dale and looked forward to returning to the B+B to relax. Haven't got anything negative to say and as a family we had a really relaxing perfect stay. We will be recommending to friends and family and hopefully returning ourselves. Thank you for a lovely break and keep up the hard work you are doing an outstanding job.
I made a last-minute reservation at this restaurant after arriving in the area for a wedding the next day. I had steak, while other members of my party had pork medallions, scampi, and fish and chips. We were all pleased with our meals, which were presented beautifully. The service was also good. And the best part - it only cost £20 per person, including drinks.
Stayed at The Star for one evening whilst nearby for work, which is never much fun, especially if the digs aren't very nice. However, on this occasion, I hit the jackpot! Booked room 4, a single, which was modern, spotlessly clean and very comfy. Had dinner in the evening, pate followed by gammon steak, which were very good, as was the breakfast the following morning. Friendly owners and staff, and being in a nice quiet area made for an enjoyable stay, and can't recommend highly enough. Thanks!
