Coast Restaurant Bar - Rye

What a lovely warm restaurant to have my family feel welcome and warm. The staff are great. The owners are the best and introduce themselves and when my wife and myself had a few too many wines the owner Charlie drive us home. What an amazing service you will never get in Melbourne. Fantastic

Popped in here for dinner the other night. Seating was comfortable and plenty to choose from. Wait staff were friendly although, at times, a little pre-occupied. I chose the chicken curry special and was presented with a very unimaginative and barely spiced concoction. Pappadams or some coconut, or even perhaps naan, would have made a difference. My husband's meal was pleasant but uninspiring. Good wine list.

We had brunch here over the Easter break. Quick and friendly service. Average food (ie- all the standards - benedict, smashed avo etc) but it's pricey. And the coffee was awful - it barely tasted like coffee at all and it was warm at best.

Our usual coffee shop was closed on Wednesday so we ventured out to try Coast and was bitterly disappointed, like their coffee. I ordered 4 takeaways which we waited quite a while for as only one member of staff on who was taking orders and making coffee etc. Another person joined them about 15 mins into our wait which did speed things up a bit. Not sure if the order got lost in translation but the half strength coffee I ordered turned out to be a full strength, very bitter coffee which I only realised when I got home otherwise would have asked for a replacement. I also ordered my coffee to be extra hot but that was forgotten too!! Won't be going back there again for sure...

Quite expensive for average cafe style food. Nice setting outside but food is very basic. Coffee is average.
