Hunters Kitchen - Rutland

During our stay at The Wisteria Hotel, we decided to dine at the attached restaurant called Hunters Bar Kitchen. It was a bustling Sunday evening and we were thankful we had made a reservation as the place was packed. We were given the Sunday menu, which featured a variety of roasts. Although I don't typically order roasts, I opted for the roast beef and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The dish came with a generous portion of beef, a variety of vegetables, a sizable Yorkshire pudding, and a plentiful amount of gravy. Despite initially thinking I wouldn't finish it all, I managed to clean my plate! I would happily return to try another menu at this restaurant.

After enjoying delicious Sunday roasts here many times, we decided to switch things up and try a Saturday evening meal. We ordered from the Spring menu, which offers six starter options priced between £7-£10. We both chose the Crispy Asian Duck with chestnuts, pickled walnuts, watercress, and a chilli ginger dressing. The dish consisted of three generously sized bonbons filled with lean duck meat and bursting with flavor. Although the selection of seven main courses may seem limited, we would always prefer quality over quantity. I opted for the hand-cut sirloin steak, which was tender and cooked to perfection, complemented by a scrumptious brandy and mushroom sauce served on the side. My companion chose the Moroccan Lamb Rump with spiced couscous and cucumber mint yoghurt, which he thoroughly enjoyed for its tender and flavorful lamb. The service was professional and friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere where nothing was too much trouble.

We both enjoyed the main dishes and desserts we had at this restaurant. The service from the staff was efficient and friendly. The old building, originally built as a Hunting Lodge, added to the overall experience with its furnishings.

Great food well cooked and presented and very friendly service in a good atmosphere. The staff were great.

If you want to be able to taste each individual ingredient on your plate and enjoy the whole package, this is the place for you. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Delicious. Friendly staff
