Bidrage med feedbackStandard dim sum spot in Rowland Heights. Went on a Sunday and there wasn't a wait. Service was expected for a dim sum place and some dishes were better than others. I really liked the shrimp rice noodle rolls and the har gow add a lot of shrimp in it. The chicken wings were BOMB. I would skip the taro cakes they are not like the usual turnip cakes. We also got fried rice and beef noodles that were decent.
This place used to have a line out the door, but it's become less popular now. We went at 11am on a weekend, and while the main room was full, they still had extra back rooms open, so we were seated immediately. My mom got fed up with the cart dim sum places last time because they didn't have much selection and a lot of food was cold by the time we received it. Here, you order upfront, so your food should be hot when you receive it. I do think it's better to get it hot, but the problem is they deliver in a totally random order. One dessert, then one main course, and back and forth. By the time I got to my egg tart, it was no longer warm. I think next time I would ask them to please serve the sweets at the end. The service was actually very good on Saturday. They kept coming back to change our plates, brought lots of napkins and extra hot sauce, etc. Now for the food:Shrimp dumpling/hargow: while it was hot, it was not seasoned enough inside. It was too bland without hot sauce.Shumai: very good, super flavorful plump! Egg tart: flaky on the outside, a bit dryDuck: my family was a fan of this. It was nicely crisp on the outside, and juicy on inside.Charcoal egg yolk bun: this was cold by the time I ate it because they served in wrong order... i wish they'd just use a regular bun. The charcoal is so weird. Coconut pudding: these are shaped like adorable bunnies, but the flavor was bland. On the bright side, it's not too sweet, so it's a good treat for kiddos.
Overpriced, and I wasn 't too impressed with the selections. If you are into some dim sum bougie dining then this place is for you. Bonus if you get seated in the back room with the chandelier and mounted non working 100 screen tv. It 's annoying to be seated elbow to elbow with strangers. Another added bonus when they are literally annoying as they were constantly looking at our table and pointing out what we ordered and copying what we got. It gave very much tone deaf vibes...literally OH LOOK WHAT THEY ORDERED! LETS THAT THAT TOO! Lucky you if you don 't encounter such seating arrangement.ALSO , I felt their waiters and waitresses were biased. Zero customer service, no acknowledgement whatever. They focused on speaking to our buddy who is Chinese. I don 't care if this establishment is in the back of the alley, basic customer service makes a difference in the dining experience. It 's probably the culture . I probably shouldn 't expect much from an establishment like this.
Classic, good dim sum place but a bit overpriced. For a party of two, we already spent $72 for classic dim sum orders such Siu Mai, Har Gow, and XLB. Most other dim sum places I know are def cheaper and still the same in that classic taste! Ambiance:Me and boyfriend went here because his parents had their wedding reception here 20+ years ago so it was sentimental. The place is definitely elegant and has all the classic Chinese dizziness restaurant needs!Service: Classic only comes when you flag them down servers. The menu is updated now to have pictures/translations so it's nice and easier to order. It did take a while for us to get seated but that's expected in a Saturday morning.
Alright here 's the thing. The normal food here is subpar, but the higher end banquet food is the best you will find in SoCal. They have a huge range of budget options. When I came here years ago we ordered a steamed king crab to celebrate something. It was the best crab I ever had in my life, and I will always remember it. They displayed it beautifully with the legs split open and the taste was straight up divine, with a delicate garlic sauce. My cousin had held her wedding banquet here recently with a private room and the food was all around excellent. They selected the midrange option which was a little over 1k per table of 10 people. Reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we got, both of which were great.Roast Pig quite good, more skin than meat though it seemed Treasure Pouch a tofu skin pouch with meat inside and clear sauce with broccoli. I liked itDried scallop on bok choy so much scallop and I 'm not complainingSoup individualized clear broth soup with sea cucumber. this was surprisingly good as these kinds of soups tend to be bland but I really enjoyed it.Abalone with goose foot and gai choy the abalone was cooked perfectly and the sauce was good. personally not a fan of either bird feet or gai choy, but other people said they were okHouse chicken typical. nothing specialFlounder tender and deliciousSteamed rice kind of like lo mei gai but it was just rice. the rice was nice and fluffy but not much flavor. mehEgg tart my fiancee approvesTong yuen not too sweet iykyk
