Maharaja Indian Takeaway - Rotorua

Heard a lot of good things about these guys but personally would not reccomend. We tried Maharaja three times. First the Koutu store. They accidently sent us a wrong curry, we get it it happens, ring up to sort a replacement to be told my partner should like it as thats what Indians usually order. Still gave a replacement but felt it odd. Second time we tried to order from Koutu, however the number listed for their store was incorrect and we got Ngapuna however they dont answer with location so we were none the wiser. So we head off to pick up our order in Koutu only to be told they dont have it and its on the other side of town. Little bit upset at that one we rung the number for Koutu. 3rd time we order from Ngapuna only to get microwaved onion bahji and samosa that were inedible and gross. Food is average, not bad not great. Starters often microwaved or reheated instead of cooked fresh. Service we feel is very lacking. Great in a pinch but wouldnt reccomend this buisness overall.

This place is terrible no where do they state that you have nuts in your butter chicken and I am right now up at the hospital with my boyfriend who had a allergic reaction this is ridiculous and when I order the service was terrible he couldn’t understand me I tired calling to tell them what had happened and he didn’t understand at all shame on you guys if you have allergies beware do NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!! Probably ate some of the best Indian cuisine of my life. Very traditional, we received a very warm and friendly welcome when we arrived. The dishes are very, very well stocked and very inexpensive! We paid $22 per person for starter, main course and a bread. We couldn't finish it because it was so plentiful. I recommend!!! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20
