Bidrage med feedbackWe ate here tonight... perfect in every way. I had the lamb aprons, Nabeby a sausage plate and buffet salad. I've never had better lamb apron before, and I could see Monet paint like that. Recommend this well-made heurer.
Durnstein is a very cute little village which clearly caters to the tour busses. We stopped to walk around and have dinner one late afternoon; the busses were gone so it was very peaceful. Our dinner choices were seemingly limited to more fine dining options...(lovely but pricey and we were in a more casual date night mood). We meandered around past the Schloss Durnstein hotel the most luxurious hotel in town. We saw a sign pointing us 100 meters south, along the river, from the hotel to a heuringer, which is a casual sort of wine bar in Austria and sought it out. WHAT A FIND!!!! It is on the left as you walk down the hill from the hotel in a residential neighborhood and is a little perfect gem of a restaurant which we highly recommend and were so glad that we found. There are both indoor and outdoor seating, Outdoors has a series of layered terraces so all tables have a sense of place and privacy, as well as a lovely view of the Danube. There is a small pond with koi and lawn chairs arranged around the pond and along the gardens below the terraces. Service is professional, quiet, fast, and friendly. The atmosphere is perfect. The caprese salad is the best I have ever had and I 've had a lot of data points to compare; the hamburger and fries were first rate, and the blaufrankisch red wine by the glass was very premium quality. All in all, this was such a hidden gem and I hope others can find and enjoy it also. The clue came in the napkins and dinner plates, all of which had Sclhloss Durnstein on them this is part of the hotel, which explains the lovely ambiance and high quality food and wine but at a very low low low price!
Serene atmosphere in a unique location. Attention. Good, simple food; very delicious from the grill.
This was the best setting for a meal. View of the river and next to a pond, in a garden. The food was fantastic. We had 8 people and all loved their meal. Perfect end after a hike to the castle...ruins.
A good service with a smile, funny waiters, the food was good, good choice of alcohol. Interior and outdoor seats, with beautiful views and a good atmosphere, see the chef outside, who is very beautiful and he is also a great fun...guy. The place is open late, which is a great plus in Durnstein, where most places close to the darkness. There several time and we enjoyed it.
