Bidrage med feedbackFrom aperitif to dessert it was impeccable as usual. With excellent wine to accompany everything. Thank you...
Beautiful establishment, nice tables, nice service and good plates
We had dinner with alsacian wine pairing. Amazing experience, each dish was an explosion of flavors. Service Is very good too!
A typical French restaurant that does everything right and has been doing it for many years. The food is fantastic, the menu seasonal and the promotion of products comes first, as it should, but they really make it sound like an event in itself. So food is great, service fantastic, the restaurant is super popular on sundays so best chance is week days without reservations but they always try to accommodate. Super wines. Staff who trains in Michelin stars restaurant... a true love for gastronomy so, if you too feel you share that little extra without pretense, then go... It is one of our little discovery and we are very glad we found it. It is a treasure.
This was our first visit to this restaurant. We were visiting spontaneously with our one year old daughter and were able to obtain a table next to the door without a reservation. An antique and well used but serviceable baby chair was provided for our daughter. We ordered two gourmet 3 course menus with an aperitif and wine, all of which were served promptly. We have no complaints about the cuisine, which was delicious and we were indeed very satisfied with it. However, the level of service was another story. The elderly hostess/la patronne was stiff and reserved from the start and did not make us feel welcome; we definitely noticed her thinly masked contempt at what we presume was the presence of our one year old daughter; this was despite the fact that the hostess spent half the time attending to her baby grand daughter in the adjoining room. The shocking extent of her rudeness came to a culmination in the middle of our meal: we had initially taken three restaurant business cards to share with our friends and recommend Au Lion d’Or to them. At one point our daughter had briefly managed to get hold of the business cards. The elderly hostess came directly over to our table, confiscated two of the business cards from our daughter and haughtily informed us that we could only have one business card. She proceeded to say something in a nasty tone in French to our daughter and then turned on her heel and left us. When one goes to a restaurant to enjoy a meal, one is not just paying for the skill of the chef and quality of the cuisine, but for the dining experience, which one would expect to include (at a minimum) being treated in a respectful manner by the staff. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this restaurant after such an unpleasant experience and the unnecessary display of overt rudeness and we will not be returning to it. To be fair, the daughter who later served us of the hostess was courteous and briskly efficient. When the hostess goes into retirement we are certain that the dining experience at the restaurant will improve significantly and it will then be possible to give this restaurant a higher rating. In conclusion, this restaurant offers high quality dining and features a pleasant well lit and comfortable interior seating area; however, the incredibly rude behavior of the elderly hostess absolutely ruined our lunch and from our perspective it was ultimately a waste of one hundred Euros, not to mention a distasteful and ugly memory of an outing with our daughter that should have been an enjoyable experience. What a pity indeed.
