12/31/2022 today is the last day at this location. They will be closing after today and reopen on 1/8/2023 at their new location just down the street on Arroyo Drive before you get to Paramount Blvd. I love Tozai Foods. I've been going there for years. Service is impeccable. Prepared foods are the best. Sushi is fresh as can be. Note: the only location that has Fugetsu mochi in the SGV area. Happy New Year and we'll see you at the new location!
We've been going to Tozai for years. Besides being great market, it's local and family owned. Tozai is our go-to for Japanese produce, which IMO is better than the larger Japanese markets. When we need nappa, daikon, or ooba (aka shiso), Tozai is the place. Years ago, a friend told me that the produce quality at Tozai was the best around. I have to agree that the quality is better and that their produce stays fresh longer. For prepared foods, recommend the tonkatsu (fried breaded pork cutlet), which is superior to those chain markets. Also, their beef and chicken teriyaki bowls.
This little Japanese market is so convenient. We are lucky to have it. For being so small they offer a lot of items not found in traditional markets in the area. Sushi n sashimi platters along with bento box meals. Thankfully the they were able to outlast the lockdowns and silly Covid restrictions.
Nice Japanese market that has been in neighborhood for years and they're moving to a new location down the street. You can order sushi combos at the counter from 10am-4pm. I recommended to the them that they should put that on a sign. I wasn't aware so the gentleman that made my sushi was grumbling and upset the whole time cause I ordered too early.
