Bidrage med feedbackFrom the taste of it I think that this might be "authentic" Japanese. I've never been to Japan, so I can't vote. I give reviews based on my perception and tongue. And I'll be honest, I didn't like it so much. The Octopus balls were good, they had a small smokey taste that I am not a very big fan. The Fried Chicken was not different from any usual Asian roasted chicken. They gave a sauce that was too strong for me, and I eat the chicken without the sauce. The Lachs Teriyaki was good, bruised and 'good' on the ground with a lot of soy sauce. I hear the ramen is really good, but I don't have a pig person, so .. After having so often American and Japanese food, I'm not a big fan of authentic Japanese food. Maybe over time, I could develop a taste for it. Maybe I'll come back to update these reviews. I almost forgot to mention it's a bit too much on the pricier side. I do not think that the three things I had were worth a total of $50, the quality and quantity :
This restaurant in Rockville offers authentic Japanese cuisine. Unlike the typical Teppanyaki and Sushi restaurants, this place reminded me of the true flavors you can find in places like East Village or a street corner in Osaka. I highly recommend trying the Takoyaki, a dish I had only previously found in NYC, as well as the flavorful Unagi Donburi. They also have a good selection of Sake that I plan to try next time I visit.
I have lived down the street from Temari Cafe for three years and was hesitant to try it due to its less than glamorous location. However, today my partner and I finally decided to give it a shot. Oh my goodness, I can't believe I waited so long! I ordered the pork in ginger sauce with soup and rice, and everything was delicious. The dumplings were also some of the best I've ever had. Now that I know about this place, I will definitely be coming back for authentic Japanese cuisine.
Oiishi. This is one of the best places to get authentic Japanese food in the metropolitan area of Baltimore-Washington. They are owned by Japan, unlike most chain Japanese restaurants that belong to Korean or Chinese. The restaurant is very, very small, so you may have to wait if it is a touch of patrons. But everything is amazing. We had everything from sushi to Katsu and the Ramen. Bonus added, they have a Japanese market above that has everything you can think.
I absolutely love the katsu curry rice at this restaurant. The wait can be long due to limited seating, but it is definitely worth it. They also serve delicious ramen noodles and excellent desserts.
