Bidrage med feedbackI discovered this fantastic restaurant just before closing time and I was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding service and generosity of the staff. The food was delicious, although I wasn't a big fan of the chicken sandwich, the sauces and chicken tenders were my absolute favorites. I will definitely be returning to this place whenever I have the opportunity.
Have you ever heard of Chicken and Waffles in a suburban area of New Jersey? It may cost $10, but that photo is worth every penny. This place serves the best fried chicken in the area, no question. The chicken is perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy. I got three different sauces with my order, and they were all delicious. As a sauce connoisseur, I must say they passed my strict standards. The waffles were also good, reminding me of Costco's sugar waffles but still tasty. Overall, a great meal for the price.
Finally stopped into Papa Al's Chicken and Waffles after driving by it for too long. I'm so glad that I did. Not only was the owner really friendly, but informed us of the wait times for everything we would order because it's MADE FRESH. So we ordered the wings and Waffle combo. Got some corn fritters, fried pickles and biscuits. It took about ten minutes to get the food after the order was processed and I did not mind the wait for the quality of foods that we received. 1. The chicken was awesome. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Good sized wings. Sauce on the side, I got mango habanero and it was sweet and spicy but not over powering. I also got Papa Al's signature sauce which was a honey mustard like chipotle that I dipped enjoying in. So tasty. 2. But that waffle! Oh my God! the waffle. I would write a song about it. I'm sure it's got a crazy calorie count, but I didn't go here looking to watch calories. It was sweet, wonderful vanilla and cinnamon taste, and so buttery. It also had a firm crisp crust and soft center. Perfect with the chicken and sauce. I would go back just for waffles. 3.The corn fritters were wonderful also. Very flavorful. Full of corn, not just dough. Crispy outside soft center. Perfect size. I could eat an order like ripping though McDonald's french fries. They would be gone before I knew it. But I was sharing so I held back. 4. The fried pickles had a snap and nice flavor. We got those last, so they were soft when we got into them, but there were some great fried pickle bits in the bottom that we super crunchy. 5. The biscuit was one of the top biscuits I've ever eaten. Fluffy, soft inside, crusty top lathered in butter. It was sweet and not dry at all. I'm looking forward to going back. I'm going to try the chicken tenders with the waffle so that I can eat them together better. They also have fried Oreos and fried Twinkies. Seriously! Check them out. It's a hidden gem in Rockaway.
This is definitely the best fried chicken I have ever had! The flavor is amazing. This is my favorite place to get chicken. The staff are friendly and the service is excellent. They always make sure to take good care of us, even with all of our extra sauce requests.
Food was good. Decent potions. A tad bit overpriced in my opinion (got the 3 tenders with waffles and regular Mac bites for like $15). Patron area seemed clean. But when I walked in, I waited over 5 minutes to be helped b/c there was no one behind the counter. It wasn?t busy, they just didn?t seem ready to serve (it was 11:40ish at the time on a Saturday). Employee was nice though when I did get to order. There was also a toddler behind the counter which I find quite dangerous in a kitchen, especially one that deals with fried food. Overall, food was alright but the service is a little questionable.
