Bidrage med feedbackThe nice riverside setting is really the only positive aspect of this establishment. The food is mediocre, the waiting times are atrocious, the service is appalling and the owner is downright heinous. There is an infinity of better options in the region so just skip this sad excuse of a restaurant.
La Guinguette de Lulu Parc on a summer day is buzzing with people, consuming grill food, brought by smiling staff. We were there for lunch, thus missing out on the guinguette music and dancing in the evening. Really good food.
We were staying in the Art Hotel opposite this venue and were attracted by the music booming across the road. The venue runs along side the River Loire and is a play/recreational area with various rides etc. From the signs I also believe there is a campsite within the grounds. There was a dance in progress to piped music/backing tracks in the under cover dance area which was full of people. Three was a man and woman singing along to some of the songs. Good atmosphere and the dancers were certainly enjoying the experience. It looked worth a visit so we thought we would sit, have a glass or two of wine, have a meal and enjoy the evening. Mistake. You cannot sit at an empty table in the outdoor restaurant, and there were quite a few around dance floor with no obvious sign to indicate the were reserved. Instead you have to book at a kiosk adjacent to the bar areas. We arrived at 8.30pm and had to wait till 9.15pm before being seated. We passed the time sat by the river with a bottle of very average white wine at 18 euros a bottle. Suggest you drink beer. When we were given a table, the end of a bench with shared with a French couple, a waitress arrived almost immediately, and took our order, Caesar Salad and Salmon Steak, which we intended to share. The food arrived within a couple of minutes of our order and so was obviously pre prepared. The Salad was full of processed sliced chicken and very large, enough for two. Not the best but passable. The Salmon Steak, served with French Fries, was well cooked and was enough for two to share. Both portions were ample but the food was at best average and with two bread rolls the bill was around 40 euros. We never finished the wine...it was that bad.I can best describe the experience as similar to being at a BBQ where the hosts food is passable but the atmosphere created by the people around you made up for the shortcomings in the food. There was a park area with a large number of families enjoying the amusements and there was a separate take away kiosk selling take away food and fries.Parking did not appear to be a problem, we only walked across he road, and this looks a great venue for families with children not too concerned about the dining experience.Would we go again. No. An experience, but not one that we intend to repeat.
The idea to combine several things together is good: food, drink, dance, kids attractions, ...But the quality level is pretty poor. Both on food and on wines. On top all this with very long time to be served because fully crowded and with the kitchen not dimensioned for it.
We had a nice beer at La Guingette, and on a previous visit we had a pleasant enough evening meal here. But, as a father of a nearly-two year old, the key to visiting Lulu Parc is the kids playground next door. It's not cheap to get in - around €30-€35 for 2 adults and 1 child. But we were there with friends all day (from around 11am to 6pm) - and the kids didn't want to go home! There are around 25 different amusements for kids - ranging from swings and sandpits to water slides and trampolines - all marked up for appropriate age ranges. There is also a little animal farm and mini golf. The food from the cafeteria at this part of the site was as expected - moderately priced, moderate choice, moderate quality. It helps if the weather is good because everything is outside. But this was a highly entertaining day out for the children.
