Bidrage med feedbackWe had dinner at Amal and would recommend it to everyone! The restaurant has a lovely old vaulted ceiling, the service was good and most of all the food was absolutely delicious!
Whatever good comment you see for AMAL, just believe it! We had the AMAL antipasti which I absolutely recommend, it is in fact enough for two. Also the fishpolpette very very good in delicious tomato sauce. Then the Involtini di Spada... A MUST!! And the mixed fried fish and calamari were great but after all that good food the portion was too big for me. I also recommend AMALs housewine, nice and slightly fruity. Next time in Roccella we will go again!
Excellent choice of dishes, from traditional ones to others mixing different types of ccuisine. We were well guided in our choice by a competent waiteress. You can also buy local products (oil&vinegar onions, bergamotto spirits, jams, honeys) at reasonable prices. The restaurant and producers of mentioned products belong to cooperatives against Mafia.
We started with a shared antepasti selection which was delicious and not the usual standard collection of items. Seven individually crafted creations ranging from a tender octopus, potato, tomato, carrot dressed plate to a bean hummus topped with two prawns, caponata, cheese soufflé and more, all excellent. We both had unusual and successful risottos as main courses. One a red rice flavoured with red wine, pieces of pear and a touch of cheese. Mine was the risotto with ice cream Gorgonzola at the heart. I have never eaten anything like it and it sounded so unusual I simply had to sample it to see if the idea worked. It did! We were too full to manage desserts but I had a coffee and grappa. Half a dozen bottles were brought to the table so that I could help myself. I tried the Crema di Bergamotto and a little barrique grappa. There was a local Amaro, white grappa and, of course, Limoncello too. Plus a local liquorice speciality. I would have given Amal the full five stars were it not for the fact that we were the only patrons on this damp Wednesday in late September. But that's hardly their fault. The restaurant deserved to be packed. Go to Amal in Roccella Jonica and pack it out. Finally, I should add that the restaurant is very good value and maintains high ethical standards.
Return once again. confirmed the positive impression. However, I recommend that you update the menu by entering new dishes. Given the skill and creativity of the chef I don't think it will be difficult to enrich the variety of dishes proposed, always combining tradition and innovation. always excellent service and reception.
