Pop's Ice Cream & Soda Bar - Roanoke

I live 5 hours away, and going to Pop's has been a pilgrimage I gladly undertake several times a year since 2015 because the sandwiches are out of this world and I have never had a bad experience with either food or service. I visited for the first time since ownership changed, and i am gutted. The sandwiches were a shadow of their former selves. My bag was so light I thought I must have gotten the wrong items, but it appears the new standard is just skimpy on ingredients,

Fun shop! My kids love all the soda and ice cream options. They have lots of board games to play while you enjoy your treats. Want to go back and try the grilled cheese!

Grilled cheese, ice cream and smiles were great. Soup and soda not so much. Very cute atmosphere with vintage feel and board games to play.

Love this little ice cream place, and I really hope it continues to do well! I?ve noticed a dip in quality with the new management. I?ll definitely be back since I?m sure it takes a lot to start! But I miss the old grilled cheeses. Last couple of times, our sandwiches were undercooked and mostly bread. And every time we get a cone, the cone is broken and the scoop falls off : I?m good with a cup for now!

This is the best little gem in Roanoke! From ice cream to fruit drinks with sherbet and milkshakes. Not too mention they have some of the best grilled cheese sandwiches in Roanoke with so many different kinds that is hard to choose. They don't have meat on any of them but each one has it's own special name and it fits the sandwich. They even have a grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich which has quickly become my personal favorite. There are old fashioned soda drinks
