La Lanterna - Riva Ligure

Looking for late evening place to eat and tried La Lanterna. Food was excellent, especially salmon ravioli could be best ravioli we ever had before! Wait staff were attentive, exceedingly friendly and only added to the positive experience even the English speaking cook staff came out to help with menu and wine selection. We were 3 generations with a one year old, and we were only one of 4 such multiple generations families at 9:30 pm! Brought out a gnocchi with pesto dish for the one year old no charge that was so good parents and grandparents were trying too! Also had swordfish and grilled shrimp, all well prepared and so tasty! Can't recommend highly enough! Great atmosphere, great staff and excellent food at a reasonable price, what more could you need?!!

It is still one of the best restaurant of Riva ligure. My best choices are: pasta allo scoglio, pasto o risotto al nero di seppia!! Bravi

My wife and I had a wonderful lunch here after a recommendation by our friend whose apartment we often rent in a nearby town in Liguria. We started with the fish antipasto which could have been a meal in itself. It had delicious carpaccios thin slices of seafood almost like sushi which made for a beautiful as well as tasty presentation. For our second course we shared a huge plate of spaghetti with clams, one of our favorites and available on almost all menus near the sea. The clams are of tiny varieties that we do not have in the United States. The house white wine was very good and not expensive. The owners and wait staff were friendly to strangers even though they seemed to have many regulars. We will be back this September.

I would suggest a list of wines and that the house should not be travaded directly from the barrel.

Sincerely, according to what I said to myself as friends, I expected better both in quality and in speed of preparation of dishes. The prices above the neighbouring restaurants, in my opinion, are not justified.
