Hwy 12 Diner - Rio Vista

The country potatoes tasted just like my mom used to make. The entire staff is friendly and attentive; they truly want to ensure everything is just how you like it. Want whipped cream on your waffle? No problem. Need steak sauce? Consider it done. Prefer the salt shaker on the left and the pepper shaker on the right? Just move them yourself; those shakers seem to get shifted around all the time. And even though I’m not a fan of ketchup, it was nice to see Hunt’s instead of the usual brand found everywhere.

My husband and I have been calling in our orders every Saturday and Sunday for the past year and a half, but we rarely receive everything we've ordered. It's like playing a game of Russian roulette! The owner's wife has the worst customer service I've ever encountered; she really shouldn't be working with the public. Rather than accepting responsibility, she always has an excuse for the mistakes. When I wanted to double-check my order before leaving, she was incredibly snappy and rude. I would personally recommend seeking out other restaurants in Rio Vista. We're done with this place!

I would give zero stars if I could. We waited at the door for 5 minutes, and two other couples arrived after us, but we were all seated around the same time. However, they were all served before us. When I tried to talk to the waitress about it, she interrupted me and was very rude. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING! The food was incredibly bad. The photo I took shows scrambled eggs with cheese, and the biscuits and gravy had clumps of flour in the biscuits.

Had a buttermilk biscuit, eggs with mushrooms, onions bacon. Huge portions, good hearty breakfasts!

Busy for a Sunday, as well it should be. But they got us in and seated quick. The menu was simple but down home good American style. You can tell it's a local favorite, which is what we always look for when passing through a town. Our server was super sweet and our food was hot and delicious! Oh, and their baked goods looked off the charts??
