The Stables - Richmond

First of all, I must say that I am a fan of this restaurant, this room and service. I was a tad confused that despite our early reservation (and only about 9 cartridges in the restaurant) we were not able to order our order for approx. 10 minutes after sitting. Odd. But as soon as our server took care of our order, everything went smoothly and in line with the high standards of service and pleasure we expect from the stables. I mention this because I believe it is an anomaly, not a function. I recommend the Stables to anyone who loves great food, great drinks, well paired wine and a social atmosphere in a really beautiful fan room.

Great food and wonderful service in a cozy ambience...

So happy we picked up here! The cozy atmosphere, the warm bar area and the cleanliness of the dining room were excellent. Menu is creative and every dish we ordered was not only perfectly prepared, but exceeded our expectations. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with wine selection. This restaurant is definitely worth a return visit. The cook is so creative that I would have loved to see what would have been created as a fun bounty. Well done.

Service was outstanding. Responsive, knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. Mussels appetizer was finest I’ve ever experienced. Very tender and perfectly prepared. Ribeye was also very flavorful and perfectly cooked with a great quality cut. Waitress was very responsive to our wine tasting that didn’t initially meet what we were looking for and brought us a different wine that worked well. Gearhart Chocalates and lemon cake made for a special night for my special person. Thanks.

Food was good, skip the desserts that didn’t live up to the rest. Kept the dining area kinda cold, several patrons kept their coats on- sadly sucks getting dressed up and not being able to comfortably eat because of the draft. The bathrooms are scary small and sketchy- tarnished the ambience.
