Speciality Chicken & Wonton House

Famous for their chicken, I’ve been wanting to try this place for quite awhile. We ordered their beef and lettuce fried rice, half a soy sauce chicken, and deep fried wantons. Food was very solid over all. I had high hopes for the chicken and it was done quite nicely. The texture of the meat has a good bite and flavourful. You can tell it’s a free ranged chicken. It was also poached perfectly, even though they reheated it in the microwave because it’s soy sauce chicken, the meat was not chewy. Due to COVID, they’ve taken good precautions and procedures. Staff and service was very typical of Chinese restaurants. You’ve to grab their attention but they are friendly. I think next time I’ll just got back for their chicken and try the other types of poached chicken.

I had lunch at this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by how good the chicken was. However, the chicken rice was disappointing as it was mushy. We also randomly ordered a few other Chinese dishes, all of which were of high quality. The service was polite and friendly.

We stumbled upon this restaurant while out exploring and searching for dining options. Although not a fancy establishment, the food was delicious. The restaurant was bustling on a Saturday night and we were fortunate to secure a table for two. We ordered the lemon chicken, shrimp spring rolls, and beef with Chinese broccoli. The meal also included a soup of the day, which turned out to be apple-flavored (although it tasted more like chicken broth, it was surprisingly tasty). If you find yourself in the area, we recommend giving this restaurant a try.

Prices at this restaurant range from $11 to $16 and the menu has a very large assortment of dishes. There are also set menus for parties of 4, 6 8 persons. Lunch specials range from $6.25 to $8.95. I opted for the free range chicken with rice for $8.95 which turned out to be a very satisfying lunch.

We have one whole free range soy sauce chicken (3 lbs), one steam tilapia over 2lbs, one bitter melon with beef tripe, tendons, stir fry vegetables, soup de jour, spicy tofu, four bowls of rice and complimentary dessert all for C$125. Taste above average. Service was a bit lacking or i would give it a 5. Value for money.
