Bidrage med feedbackI was so excited to eat here 'cause I grew up eating this in Taiwan and it 's been forever since I 've had one! We came at 9:30pm on a Sunday and it wasn 't too busy but service was kinda slow. We got #1 or their regular chicken to share and it took a while for it to be ready. It comes hot af lol you wouldn 't be able to hold it without your hands burning. It was crunchy and good in the initial bite but after a while, it started to get really oily and the batter kept separating from the chicken. I felt like there was too much batter and it over powered the chicken. For $10.99, not bad for a huge piece of chicken.
I picked up my mobile order at this restaurant. The store appeared to be closed with all lights out, even though there was still an hour left before closing as advertised. The bag felt very light and the portion size did not seem right. The popcorn chicken only filled about a third of the bag, while the yam fries were a decent size. The overall taste was average, but the chicken seemed old or refried, and did not feel like a good value for the money. I understand that business owners may need to increase prices due to inflation, but from a consumer standpoint, if I don't feel satisfied with my order, why would I want to return?
Vancouver has so much authentic Chinese food it's crazy. We walked past this place so I took a mental note to see how authentic it is and I'm happy to say it's very authentic. I believe the original one originated from Taiwanese night market as street food and then it spread quickly in China. The signature dish or order is the big fried chicken fillet. When you see the word bug you generally have a preconceived notion of how big a chicken fillet would be but I bet you will still underestimate how big it would be. It's humongous! It's also fried perfectly so no complaints there. I don't recommend the fried mushrooms much mostly because it's decent but nothing to write home about.
Food was probably 2-3 stars had some spicy chicken it was hot and fresh and exactly what we expected. I should have been concerned that lunch time and every other restaurant in the area was busy but this one was empty. Service was mediocre but when you go to pay there is a sign that you need to tip in order to eat in?????? That’s a 1 star review at best!Give good service with great food and I’ll be happy to tip you but NEVER demand or expect one.
This restaurant is deceptive and unappetizing. I ordered for pickup through Ubereats and arrived early. The staff were talking to each other in Chinese, saying things like "Today's chicken size is too big, I am going to have a bite." They ended up taking some of the food they had already prepared for my order and hiding it at the counter. It's unacceptable for a restaurant to openly discuss eating customers' food in front of them. This restaurant is not recommended.
