I had a very interesting Chinese dinner at the Timmy Kitchen , got invited with one of my uncle's friend , he keep telling us it is one of the best authentic Chinese restaurant in Richmond ! the restaurant is located in Richmond Four Square building , restaurant very small and dingy decor need a good make over ! more like western Chop Suey restaurant every body have their own taste ,special me FUSSY ! lot of MSG in their cooking , (DRY Mouth feeling special the seafood dishes ,but the Golden Crab surprised taste excellent ,the crispy chicken too dry , Spicy squid so oily the lady (owner? look at it took it back from our tablet and recook it for us ,also the beef and ginger and green swimming in oil ,.price and quality average ,I happy to go some clean restaurants on No3 road and pay more and enjoyed it more, over all , if you do not care the quality or cleanness , it is okay place ! but not for my standard .
We love going to this restaurant , owners are lovely , great friendly service and the food is always good and consistent . I don’t usually say this for all but mainly because the food is authentic , fresh and always consistent and yummy . I am a foodie and recognize a good restaurant by its food .
Timmy can be found across the street from Steveston Landing, initially it will be difficult to find because the restaurant is situate below street level. The restaurant closes on Tuesdays and between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM daily. Street parking in Steveston is always a challenge. The food is OK but some dishes tend to be a bit greasy.
Revisited Timmy Kitchen after a few years, sad to say the standard greatly differed from before. Owners are the same, they are still very friendly, but I am sure that the kitchen staffs may have seen some changes. Roasted Chicken with Seasoned Salt 3 stars Recommended by the boss lady. I don't know if the skin is supposed to be crispy or not with this recipe, as it is not the more popular Crispy Skin Chicken that is common in most Cantonese Restaurants. Yes, the meat is tender and juicy but I still prefer the crispy skin type. Tofu with Seafood Hotpot 1 stars A very common dish, this lacks flavour and also substance. Not up to their regular standard at all. Steamed Fresh Oysters with Black Bean Sauce 3 stars Simple dish, if the oysters are fresh, you've already win this dish and with proper cooking time and sauce it will be perfect. The oysters we got were very fresh but it was slightly over cooked maybe for one minute too much. Lobster in Green Onion Ginger Sauce 4 stars This is the star of the night, meaty, juicy, sweet not overcooked. Simple yet delicious, we ordered some noodles later to soaked up all the goodness from the lobster! Minced Beef Tofu with Cilantro Soup 3 stars Old standby soup for Cantonese Restaurants, their version adds tofu which makes the soup more smooth and hearty! Final score: 2.8 stars Verdict: Only if you are in the neighbourhood, and fancy Chinese food. Steveston has a lot to offer and I may not come back for a while.
