Bidrage med feedbackWe chose this restaurant, as it is a short walk from the Dominion Energy Center. It is essentially a bar with tables around the sides. There is plenty of room and window high tops. Our server was friendly and professional. My husband had the raw oysters and the oyster crudo. I ordered the baked scallop meal. All of our food was very good, but portion sizes are small for the cost. That is the price you pay for eating in a trendy restaurant. I gave a 4 for atmosphere, as many of the back tables are very dark and people pass by to use the bathrooms.
Deserves it's excellent ratings. Food was superb, as was the service. A very nice atmosphere with subtle wood smoke aroma. Fresh oysters. Grilled octopus and rockfish were perfectly cooked. Sicilian dessert was unique and delicious. Music was a bit loud and not to our taste but that was a minor mark on an otherwise excellent dinner.
Unfortunately disappointed. The service was great by our waiter. My wife's Old Fashioned was great too. Rappahannock oysters were excellent, some of the best I've had. The ceviche was slightly salty but good. The level of smoke from the kitchen was our problem. I walked out smelling like I had just spent hours in front of a BBQ pit. I found out from the waiter there were issues with the ventilation recently. Had the smoke not been an issue I would have stayed for entrees. I will try this again but may call ahead to ensure the ventilation has been fixed.
It’s normal bar food and drink style with fresh seafood choice. Drinks are priced a little high without much special creation or preparation (martini in margarita glass for example). Scallop was very good. The paella was ok (be warned it’s two people portion).
Was looking for well-done food for our only night in Richmond on a several day tour from VA to NY. Open Table recommended this spot. Two people in my party recognized the restaurant was part of a successful group and so we decided to go. Though the service was somewhat absent and the atmosphere lacking in any character whatsoever, the food and drink was delicious. When serving such high quality food at 30-40, even 50 dollars a plate, I expect the highest level service and a memorable environment in which to dine. Nothing about the venue even hinted at its Virginia namesakes proximity. No history. No story. The limited menu was tasty but did not relate to the Rappahannock at all. No trout, crabs, local food history or anything to connect to Richmond. BUT, we still had a nice time over conversation at the table.
