Bidrage med feedbackI called in my order before I arrived. The person taking my order said I speak too fast for her to understand. Come to find out she's a teen taking order with little knowledge of the menu. I understand it's a family run business, but some form of training should be taught. I bought 5 lbs of crawfish and got 1 additional pound for free. It didn't look like 6 lbs. Also ordered crab legs and their price is fairly inexpensive compare to the market for 2 clusters. You get what you paid for, I guess. The crab legs quality was poor. Meat was dry as in it may have been old product. Over the last 18 years I come to this place to eat because I enjoy their flavors. Many owners later, it's not getting any better. Hard pass for me. I rather pay market price for quality.
The first few times we came here the food was amazing! My wife is Vietnamese and she was able to order EXACTLY what we wanted and we were in food coma by the time we left. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if they have switched owners or if they can't get decent help but since Labor Day the food has been mediocre at best and the service... let's just say the last time we were there we had to ask for napkins, then spoons for the soup we ordered, then the forks for the Whelks, and the clams we ordered were still cold with the ingredients literally dumped on top. Whenever you order 4 different items, nothing but water to drink, and the food bill itself is over $110, you should expect more than this place has going on lately. And after having to chase someone down to pay my bill and them simply twisting the kiosk around and walking off to leave me to check myself out, needless to say there was NO TIP included and we are unlikely to be back again anytime soon.
Absolutely awesome. I never would have known about this place if a friend hadn't recommended it to me but I can't recommend this place highly enough. It's definitely worth a diversion to visit. First off, before all the good, the bad. The service was somewhat slow, but they seem to be very understaffed. There was almost 20 people in the restaurant and only one server and two cooks. The decor, likewise, isn't inspiring. It's a homely shop in a strip mall and the inside reflects that. This restaurant has two menus, one has a mix of typical cajun/fried seafood dishes and pasta. The other is a really good mix of snails and bivalves not easily found in Dallas-area restaurants. We ordered entirely off the second menu and were not disappointed! We ordered sweet snails with garlic butter sauce, stuffed apple snails, and soft shell crab with salted egg. They were out of apple snails though and recommended the Canadian whelk. The sweet snails were delicious as an appetizer. There's a huge amount of fresh sliced garlic floating in the butter. The dish is attractive to the eye as well as the mouth, but it's not very filling. We didn't want to leave the sauce though so we ended up ordering a side of ramen noodles just to pour it on top of. The soft shell crab was fried perfectly in a light airy batter and topped with scrambled salted egg. My wife was a bit disappointed in this latter aspect because she was expecting a salted duck egg, but this is more like a scrambled chicken egg with salt and I think it goes wonderfully with the crab. There's a generous portion here for the price and enough for everyone. Finally, the Canadian whelk, we didn't originally know what was coming but were not let down. These large snails come out in piping hot shells and I recommend eating them as quickly as you can because the hot shell continues to cook the whelk inside and some of the ones left over till the end of the meal tasted a bit overcooked. Overall, the meal was excellent. Strong recommendation.
Crawfish right now is $9.99 a pound. Was recommended to try their popular flavor- fam bam. We ordered 5 pounds of fam bam 5 pounds of Cajun. Was not able to distinguish between the two. The crawfish didn't really catch the seasoning as they didn't give us much sauce. I saw that they also offer hot pot at this location.
