Modern Homestead - Reedsville

This was our first visit and we were impressed by the ambiance, service and especially the offerings. From the blue corn muffins to the rhubarb sorbet, each bite was a taste treat! We particularly enjoyed the shortbread that accompanied dessert- it was the perfect complement to the tartness of the rhubarb. We will be back for more!

The hospitality at Modern Homestead was outstanding. The atmosphere was comfortably cozy and everything was beautifully decorated from the art on the walls to the matching milk glass side plates, fresh peonies, and salt and pepper shakers. The food was exceptional. The menu for the evening included cornbread with fresh rosemary and thyme in a cast iron skillet, a salad with butter lettuce, cherry tomatoes, roasted beets, and parmesan, with a dressing that had a hint of roasted onions; fried chicken with fresh rosemary, potato salad, and fresh green beans; and an Atlantic Beach pie with a scoop of the smoothest vanilla ice cream topped with flavorful fresh mint. Everything was delicious, but everyone agreed it was the best fried chicken we had ever had bursting with flavor and juiciness. We also sampled the equally wonderful vegetarian option fresh pesto orecchiette with asparagus and fresh sage. I also enjoyed a hibiscus iced tea, while others raved about the coffee. Kudos to Chef Trellis and krewe. Update: We went back the following weekend for another exceptional dinner with a gorgeous cheese plate, a garden fresh salad with an amazing balsamic vinaigrette, Cajun crab cakes loaded with flavor and not filler, and the most perfect version of strawberry shortcake. I’m going to be dreaming of those biscuits!

Well worth the trip no matter where you live! Great ambiance, delicious food, homemade bread, etc.. I could go on and on. Trellis does an amazing job of creating a relaxing and rewarding experience. I can't wait to return.
