Gourmet Gyros Kebabs - Redwood City

Stopped by while my car was getting worked on and not only are they lovely people the food was great and the restaurant has a great relaxing vibe!

The food was great the place was empty, so got food to go. It seemed like more of a take out spot.

The food is good but not very authentic and very small

When we had to take our dog to a vet center in Redwood City, I noticed that there was a Mediterranean restaurant right across the street, and I love me Mediterranean food. Looking at the menu online, I thought we should check it out while we waited for the tests to be done on our pet. Am I glad we stopped in for some dinner which ended up being to go since our dog's tests took a shorter time than anticipated! My husband chose the Lamb Shish kebab plate; I chose the lamb and beef gyros plate. We also ordered dessert there: the rice pudding for my husband, the Kazan Dibi for me. Wowsie, was it all good soooo good! My husband enjoyed his lamb kebab cubes and thought the rice was the bet rice he's ever had! He ate all his salad as well, so he also got his vegetables in. included I found the two pitas included for my meal (according to my husband I tried to share one with him) to be more than enough for my yummy shaved meats and enjoyed having both the small containers of tazatiki included for us along with my salad so I could put some of both of those into the pitas to make my own gyro to taste. I enjoyed the rice separately and found it unusually good, too. I had so much food and wanted to save room for my dessert, so I ate only half my main, enjoying the other half for lunch the next day (today). I also ate only half my Kazan Dibi a lovely milk egg sugar concoction reminiscent of an excellent flan like custard and had the other half for lunch the next day. We were both extremely pleased by our food and found the plates plentiful and tasty. The establishment itself had only two individuals working when we went in about 5:30 pm; I think it's busier for lunch, given the area it's in. But there were others who stopped in for to go orders while we waited for our order. The two men working put together our mains to order; chilled display units held already prepared not just the two desserts we ate but others available here. I noticed as they worked some rectangular logs of fruit colored, pistachio crusted desserts and also got two of those logs for dessert; a blood orange one and a pomegranate log one. Tiny slices of those suffice for a spoon treat of sorts, so those have been treats for over a day. Gourmet Gyros Kebabs is not a fancy looking place, more of a diner vibe than a fine dining one, but it's clean with attractive decor and fabulous food. We live at least 30 minutes away up the peninsula, but I know we'll return for more of the terrific food from the polite, hard working people who run this place!
